PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
The primary responsibility of a Relief Pharmacist is to ensure customer satisfaction by safely and accurately delivering the correct supply of medications or medical devices to our customers at ALL store locations, while maintaining professional competency. A Relief Pharmacist increases customer loyalty by assisting all customers with courteous, pleasant, patient service and treatment. A Relief Pharmacist is also responsible for staying abreast of all Federal, State and County regulations relating to the profession of pharmacy, and for complying with these laws, as well as all pharmacy procedures.

JOB DESCRIPTION
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

You MUST perform the following duties regularly and up to company standards:

  • Promptly, courteously and efficiently greet, thank, offer assistance, and meet the needs of all customers.
  • Receive prescriptions from customers and medical professionals.
  • Type, bill, count, package and check prescriptions.
  • Check for appropriate dosage, drug interactions and drug-disease interactions.
  • Dispense proper prescription medicines or medical supplies accurately and efficiently.
  • Counsel patients on proper use, storage, and side effects of medications.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and pages over the PA system.
  • Provide supervision to pharmacy staff.
  • Oversee the ordering and safe/secure storage of medications.
  • Check products for expired dates.


NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
In order to provide the best possible service to our customers, the following duties are also required on an as-needed basis, during slow periods, or upon instruction by a senior clerk, supervisor, director or designated person-in-charge.

  • Process invoices and file prescriptions.
  • Check-in and store supplies and merchandise.
  • Charge and collect payment from customer using cash register/computer.
  • Properly price, stock and merchandise items to correct locations on the sales floor.
  • Inventory merchandise process returns, check for outdate items, etc.
  • Refill and maintain robot or other counting technology.
  • Maintain and clean the department - dust, discard trash, etc.
  • Work at other pharmacy locations and worksites as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.


CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPECTATIONS
All associates are required to provide our customers with World Class Service with a local touch.

  • GREET all customers (be friendly, smile and make face-to-face eye contact).
  • HELP all customers (listen and pay attention; be courteous; be knowledgeable about product location, services offered and store hours; offer alternatives if a product is out of stock; take the customer to the product, etc.).
  • Personalize the customers shopping experience (make small talk, offer meal suggestions, explain current store promotions, etc.).
  • THANK all customers (show appreciation and offer a parting comment).


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Continuously work indoors where it is clean, air-conditioned (sometimes cold), and adequately lighted environment.
  • Seldom work in a store warehouse where it may be both noisy and dusty.


WORK HOURS

  • Generally be available for work 7 days a week and holidays, between 6:00 am and 8:00 pm.


EQUIPMENT USE

  • Frequently use a telephone to communicate with fellow store associates, customers, sales representatives and insurance companies; pens, pencils, calculator, photo-copier, fax machine, scanner and other office equipment to process customers prescriptions and invoices; computer to type and process prescriptions, type reports, emails, do research or look up claim information; spatula, counting tray and robot or other automatic pill counter to count and fill customers prescriptions.
  • Occasionally use box cutters to open cases of merchandise and supplies; use scales and measuring devices such as a mortar and pestle, beakers and graduated cylinders to compound prescription medications.
