About this position: The Bilingual Community Resource Educator (CRE) supports the service-learning experience in our Community Resource Navigator Program (CRNP), providing education, supervision, and support to students as they work alongside Spanish- and English-speaking patients with health-harming social needs. They work in a team with the Program Coordinator who leads the classroom ('learning') aspects of CRNP, other CREs, and others. This Bilingual CRE role includes monitoring day-to-day 'service' operations, including supporting program operations at various sites, supervising student work with clients, and trainings on health-related topics. Examples of duties include:
- Orient the students to the Resource Navigator Program, the screening process, and client documentation and communication
- Train students on conducting intakes, sharing resources, client follow-up, etc.
- Review all student communication and documentation
- Provide occasional instruction on navigating community resources in Legal Studies course, LS 473-Impacts of Social and Legal Issues on Health
- Regularly meet with student navigators about their casework; provide feedback and support as needed
- Maintain regular updates of program resource referrals and communicate relevant updates to students
- Manage ongoing navigator shifts
- Provide necessary follow-up and support to complex cases and any case during student breaks and transitions
- Foster partnerships and referral pathways with health, legal, and social service professionals in Dane County
The Bilingual CRE will be responsible for ensuring consistent and quality client services are provided and, when necessary, will provide resource navigation support. The Bilingual CRE will also facilitate outreach activities in English and Spanish to ensure our services are accessible, culturally responsive, and meet our community's needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in cultural humility and work for social-justice oriented non-profits. Responsibilities:
Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences.
