Location
This position is a full-time, office-based position which will be located in our Louisville, CO office.
Position Summary
The newly hired CQL Director will provide broad technical leadership across the numerous portfolios of Infleqtion’s research organization, ColdquantaLabs (CQL), and will foster, represent, and promote the overall technical culture within Infleqtion. The newly hired vice president will lead, manage, develop, and mentor a team of professionals. The EVP will also develop and drive strategy for the department and support and manage the expansion of portfolios within Quantum Computing, Quantum RF Sensors, Atomic Clocks, Quantum Matter, Glass Fabrication/Vacuum/Ions, and Photonics.

Key Responsibilities
- Deeply understand all of the quantum and technology areas involved in ColdquantaLabs research, at a fundamental level, and communicate this both internally and externally
- Refine and advocate for the over-arching organization and strategy of ColdquantaLabs
- Execute that strategy via clearly defined and clearly articulated ‘team-generated’ roadmaps for each Portfolio area, synchronizing with the larger Infleqtion roadmap
- Maintain comprehensive programmatic discipline across all the Portfolios, continuously improve execution of programs
- Responsible and Accountable for overall budget for ColdquantaLabs, including Internal Research and Development (IRAD) activities
- Lead a large and growing team of direct reports consisting of the Portfolio Technology Leads and Portfolio Managers, as well as the VP of Government Programs
- Be a key role model for what a successful technical leader is at Infleqtion and provide mentoring and coaching for key staff within CQL
- Lead or be a major contributor to all business development, proposal work, story boarding, and win-theme development within or related to CQL (this includes a large writing component for proposals on occasion)
- Play a major role in customer-facing activities, customer outreach, proposer’s day activities, customer presentations, and requirements gathering
- Demonstrate by example what constitutes an excellent customer or conference presentation; Develop team members as needed to grow their presentation skills and delivery
Requirements
- A minimum of a BS/BA in Physics, Engineering or other related technical field; An advanced technical degree is preferred and an MBA or other relevant graduate business degree a plus
- A minimum of 10+ years of direct experience in Quantum or a closely related field
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in an Executive Director, Vice President, or similar leadership role is required
- A Security Clearance a plus; Willingness to obtain a security clearance is required
- Broad knowledge of the quantum, photonics, laser, optics, and electro-optics industries; Established network of contacts within the above industries
- Experience in a business development/sales role or marketing position is preferred; Professional level understanding of the sales cycle and marketing functions are required
- Thorough understanding of technology’s path to commercialization, from the genesis of an idea through engineering and full commercialization
