About our group:

 

The Mechanical Commodity Management Team (CMT) is a global group working cross-functionally with Seagate worldwide operations (HDD, SSD and Systems), Advanced Development, Design Engineering, Quality Teams, Procurement teams, Core Teams and Product Line Management to enable, procure, produce, and deliver cost competitive components and products for our customers.  The Mechanical Commodity Management Team manages commodities and the supply base from concept through end of life. 

About the role - you will:

 

  • Lead or support global cross-functional teams on projects
  • You will assist the product core teams through the PLCP (Product Life Cycle Process)
  • Act as on-site Mechanical Supply Chain representative in Longmont, attending, leading, or supporting cross functional meetings and initiatives 
  • Partner with Commodity Management teams to define strategies, supply chain, implementation plans and cost competitive solutions
  • Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Systems CMT management, and supply base to develop technology strategies and ensure supply base is consistent with roadmap and production requirements
  • Participate in competitive analysis to identify best in class design concepts and work with counterparts to integrate new designs and processes and/or services to provide robust and cost effective solutions
  • Manage or support strategic relationships with suppliers.
  • Under Manager’s guidance, set or support strategic plans, performs cost analysis, negotiate cost, contracts, agreements and allocations to achieve lowest cost of acquisition and assure supply continuity
  • Develop or support new supply source bring up when technology requires it or supply is inadequate, under guidance from manager
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators with regards to supplier performance and lead or support supplier business reviews
  • Monitor and develop sustainable supply chain with environmental focus
  • Develop and give presentations to management and cross functional teams to gain support for resource decisions, and to report project status
  • Manage team inputs and update databases accordingly
  • Attend evening world-wide phone conferences as needed
  • Travel internationally as needed

Your experience includes:

 

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams (Including internships)
  • Experience or classes leading or managing projects and/or teams (Including internships)
  • Previous experience negotiating (Including internships)
  • Experience with mechanical product development (Including internships)
  • Background in commodity management, engineering/design, finance, quality, or procurement as examples
  • Masters Degree with technical or business focus

Colorado's 2021 Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB 19-085) requires we inform you of the estimated base salary range for this position: $52,900.00 – $71,500.00 annually. Actual salary range is based on fair market value of the role in the geography in which you live based on the requirements of the job and your skills. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and Seagate reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
