The Role:
General Motors LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Engineering Manager to lead our network security engineering team. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our global network infrastructure, supporting GM's innovative automotive technologies and business operations.
What You'll Do:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of network security engineers and administrators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of GM's enterprise security network, including multiple families of hardware and cloud-delivered firewall and proxy security controls, ensuring optimal uptime and performance.
- Oversee the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of network security infrastructure projects, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Oversee the planning, design, implementation and maintenance of methods and technologies to automate the implementation of security policies across GM’s multi-vendor enterprise fabric.
- Conduct performance management for team members, including goal setting, regular feedback, and professional development planning.
- Identify and resolve complex network security issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.
- Manage vendor relationships and service level agreements (SLAs) for network security services and equipment.
- Stay abreast of emerging security technologies, controls and industry trends, recommending strategic enhancements to the current infrastructure.
- Collaborate with other IT departments to ensure seamless integration of network security services with applications and systems.
What You'll Need (Requirements):
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in network security engineering and management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in Coaching or Mentoring security professionals, fostering their growth and development.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate effectively with Cross-Functional Team Leadership across various departments and initiatives.
- Strong track record in Performance Management, including setting expectations, evaluating performance, and providing constructive feedback to achieve team goals.
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), network security controls (Firewall, Proxy, WAF), and security best practices.
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIP) are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
