About the role

We are seeking a creative, independent and motivated Associate Researcher to work on a federally funded translational project related to pulmonary arterial hypertension. The ideal candidate should be proficient in cell culture basic wet lab techniques.

  • Performs laboratory experiments utilizing standard techniques and equipment; 
  • Collects project data; 
  • May perform routine logging and testing of samples; 
  • Processes, organizes and summarizes data, reporting experiment results using a variety of scientific, word processing, spreadsheet or statistical software applications or program platforms; 
  • Assists in the design of laboratory experiments, techniques, and protocols; 
  • May instruct other staff and students in basic laboratory techniques; 
  • Performs related laboratory maintenance such as maintaining and cleaning equipment and ordering supplies; 
  • May process orders or invoices, or undertake other clerical and simple accounting duties under the direction of administrative personnel. 
  • Performs other related duties.
  • Bachelors degree in science or related field preferred, or combination of relevant research experience and education; Masters preferred.
  • 0-2 years of research/laboratory experience
  • Experience in molecular biology, western blotting, confocal microscopy, RT-PCR, flow cytometry, mass spectrometry, cell culture. Prior work with stem cells would be advantageous.
  • Creative problem solver with high ethical standards
  • Work well independently and in a collaborative team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exposure to applicable computer technologies, including specific software applications
