This role manages the sales of Large Group Company products and/or services in a specified geographical area through assigned sales office personnel and sales activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job.  Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below.  Specific activities may change from time to time. 

  • Establish an in-depth understanding of our products and processes and how agents/brokers interact with these products and processes.
  • Maintain SLA metrics for Broker Retention while continuing to cross sell additional lines of coverage.
  • Maintain increasing knowledge of insurance industry markets, products, and legal environments to provide a value-added service to agents/brokers.
  • Oversee the process for creating and maintaining spreadsheets for large group sales proposals.
  • Work in tandem with Sales Leadership and teams to effectively service agents/brokers and to encourage them to maintain and grow their clients’ business, including renewals by:
  • Conducting regular follow-up calls to agents/brokers as well as large group Carriers, both in office and on-site to maintain current accounts and market our services.
    • Providing information on carrier administrative procedures and product availability, and direction in selecting appropriate group products.
    • Pre-screening individuals and groups for medical conditions to determine suitable products and risk adjustment factors on premium rates.
  • Oversees and evaluates LG sales activities within the region, and provides advice, counsel, and guidance to Leadership and teams.
  • Maintains contact with major accounts within assigned area.
  • Recommends changes to improve design, pricing, or policy.
  • Participates in and leads effective meetings and projects relevant to the assigned sales team and sales function.
  • Interacts with other LG sales teams regarding sales/service issues that may overlap assigned territories.
  • Performs management responsibilities in accordance with company policies, including:
    • Interviews, selects, trains and coaches direct reports. In certain Regions the LG Director will be responsible for personal production requirements.
    • Conducts employee performance evaluations.
    • Maintains high level of open communication and morale within the team and department.
    • Manages projects to successful and timely completion.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, frequently speaking and hearing, and occasionally standing, walking, bending, crawling, kneeling and the ability to lift up to 25lbs.
  • Frequent long, irregular hours.
  • Frequent travel via automobile and occasional air travel. Occasional overnight travel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and a minimum of eight (8) years related sales management experience or high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of twelve (12) years related sales management experience.
