About the role

The National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC) Division of the Leidos Fed Civ IT Business Area currently has an opening for a Network Administrator. This position will be part of a dynamic team working to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Oklahoma City at their Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center location.

The Network Administrator will support the Telecommunications Unit by providing network and telecommunications services and telecommunications infrastructure for the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC), Enterprise, and the FAA. The Telecommunications Unit manages the MMAC Backbone Network (MMAC Net) and the MMAC Trusted Internet Connection (MMAC TIC). The telecommunications infrastructure services provided are part of life cycle management of telecommunications infrastructure at the MMAC supporting approximately (95) buildings on approximately 1,200 acres. The Enterprise is a franchise and has a wide variety of government clients across various cabinets in the federal government.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the overall Network Engineering/Security framework including but not limited to installing, configuring, monitoring routers/switches and other network devices while maintaining secure, redundant and reliable operation of the MMAC Backbone Network and the MMAC Internet Access Point (IAP).
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of Network security including but not limited to, Cisco 65xx and Cisco 3750, Cisco 3850, Cisco Nexus 7X00 and 5XXX platforms, design, operation and procedure manuals. Ensure network team documentation is complete and conforms to requirements before making any hardware/software changes to production network.
  • Serve as the technical expert in the use of network management/monitoring tools, Internet Filtering/caching, routing protocols, Access Control Lists, and Uninterruptible Power Supply network monitoring, ensure backbone network and IAP conforms to appropriate FAA/DOT security regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Serve in SAFE/Agile work groups related to automation/standardization efforts. Participate on strategic planning committees and task forces organized to integrate the efforts of Information Technology (IT) groups into an effective and total Enterprise Program. Ensure MMAC Backbone Network and Internet Access Point (IAP) conform to appropriate DOT/FAA security regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Serve as Project Lead on network enhancement and modernization projects. Present briefings to obtain consensus/approval on policies. Coordinate significant technical matters with representatives' internal and external to the organization.
  • Provide policy guidance and instruction to others, both internally and externally. Use broad policies and objectives to provide general guidance for addressing issues but allow for considerable discretion to develop new and innovative approaches.
  • Monitor the  Remedy Help Desk “Network” Queues for tickets related to the network infrastructure daily. Resolve Network Queue tickets as assigned and support other FAA personnel who may also be resolving Network Queue tickets.
  • Monitor the Telecommunications Unit “Archibus” Queues for tickets related to the network infrastructure daily. Work to implement Archibus Queue tickets as assigned and support other FAA personnel who may also be implementing Archibus  Network Queue tickets.
  • Monitor/administer network monitoring tools to ensure network performance and uptime. Follow all Configuration Change Management Processes.
  • Install LAN/WAN connectivity to support MMAC and FAA operations and provide system performance monitoring services on critical systems and services. Oversee the administration of LAN/WAN infrastructure to design, configure, implement, and manage a communications network.
  • Perform installation, testing, modification, enhancement, and maintenance of LAN/WAN computer networks. Perform network analysis and troubleshooting techniques on Cisco and Juniper LAN/WAN equipment, Windows and Linux systems, and related services. Diagnose and resolve problems; implement operating system patches and upgrades; address security rights/issues with firewalls, switches, routers, VPN, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience in network administration are required.  Additional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
