Job Description

Interco is offering a paid internship opportunity for students passionate about Android development and eager to work with Kotlin, the latest and most capable Android development framework. This internship provides a chance to gain hands-on experience by working on innovative Android applications, including a photo management app, and the proprietary Interco mobile application. 

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities: 

• Develop an Android application using Kotlin that allows users to assign and manage photos of outbound containers linked to specific order numbers. This intern will receive wireframes and be responsible for building the app from the ground up. 
• Ensure that photos are stored in the appropriate directories and that the application functions smoothly and efficiently. 
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the proprietary mobile application, which is designed to enable Android devices to manage and track pallets associated with shipping orders. 
• Depending on the project’s progress, the intern may assist with new feature development or enhancements based on project needs. 

Qualifications: 

• Familiarity with or strong interest in Kotlin and Android app development. 
• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 
• Prior experience with Android development or Kotlin is a plus but not required. 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle development challenges. 
• Ability to focus on details and ensure high-quality code and application functionality. 
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. 

Additional Information

Compensation:  

• Pay rate: $15 / hour 
• Operating hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00AM-5:00PM. 
• This position does not offer healthcare benefits 
• This position is open to local students only

The Interco recycling facilities are separated into three departments: nonferrous metals, computers and electronics, and battery processing. The nonferrous facility is located on the 40-acre main campus in Madison (IL) while the computers and electronics are processed in Edwardsville where the Administrative and some logistics offices are located. The commercial department is located on The Hill in St. Louis.
