Technical Evaluation Skills:</strong> You must be able to perform machine safety risk assessments, inspections, verifications, validations, and system design reviews — including safeguarding and functional safety evaluations.</span></li><li><span><strong>Controls &amp; Systems Knowledge:</strong> Success requires hands‑on understanding of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation control systems, plus the ability to read or reverse‑engineer detailed control schematics when documentation is missing.</span></li><li><span><strong>Ability to Develop Standards &amp; Processes:</strong> You need the capability to create and maintain internal guidelines, specifications, maintenance programs, testing protocols, and documentation related to machine safeguarding and functional safety.</span></li><li><span><strong>Strong Collaboration Across Global Teams:</strong> You must work effectively with remote, cross‑disciplinary teams and the Global Manufacturing Engineering group to ensure consistent application of machine‑safety standards worldwide.</span></li><li><span><strong>Incident Investigation &amp; Problem‑Solving Skills:</strong> You need the ability to lead or support root‑cause analyses for machine‑safety incidents and drive corrective and preventive actions across multiple sites.</span></li><li><span><strong>Training &amp; Communication Capability:</strong> You must be able to train employees, communicate new requirements, and translate complex safety concepts into clear guidance for diverse audiences.</span></li><li><span><strong>Project Leadership &amp; Vendor Management:</strong> You need the ability to act as SME on capital projects, manage external consultants, support remediation work, and ensure all safety solutions meet Cummins and industry standards.</span></li></ul><p><span><strong>Education, Licenses, Certifications:</strong></span><br/><span>College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.</span><br/><span>This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.</span><br/><br/><span><strong>Experience:</strong></span><br/><span>Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.</span></p> <ul><li><span><b>Engineering Foundation:</b> A bachelor’s degree in engineering and a practical understanding of machinery operation to ground all safety decisions in sound engineering principles.</span></li><li><span><b>Advanced Machine Safety Expertise:</b> At least 3+ years of hands‑on experience leading machine safeguarding programs, including risk assessments, safety‑system evaluation, and implementation of Safety Functions (SRP‑CS) per ISO 13849‑1 using tools like SISTEMA.</span></li><li><span><b>Functional Safety Certification:</b> Certi
