About the role
<h2>Overview</h2>
<p>Celanese is seeking an accomplished <strong>EMEA Trade Compliance Senior Specialist</strong> to support strategic trade initiatives across the European Union, Switzerland and other jurisdictions. Based in <strong>Budapest</strong>, this senior-level role will support several Celanese business lines, in particular the RDP-business. The ideal candidate will master all <strong>EU trade concepts</strong>, develop beneficial trade strategies and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to align compliance with business objectives. She/He will leverage deep expertise in<strong> EU customs regulations</strong>, while utilizing digital tools like <strong>SAP GTS</strong> and BI reporting applications to implement data-driven strategies and stakeholder insights. Furthermore, managing external audits by competent authorities in diverse jurisdictions is an important part of this role.</p>
<h2>Responsibilities</h2>
<p><strong>YOU will be involved in the following tasks:</strong></p>

<ul>
<li>Develop and implement EU-focused trade compliance strategies, optimizing duty savings and operational efficiency (FTAs, tariff management, strategic sourcing).</li>
<li>Serve as the EU trade subject matter expert, ensuring compliance with all EU and Swiss concepts, including Union Customs Code (UCC) regulations, tariff classification, customs valuation, origin determination and sanctions. </li>
<li>Interface with internal stakeholders (e.g., supply chain, procurement, legal, finance) to align trade strategies with business goals, providing actionable insights and recommendations.</li>
<li>Utilize SAP S4 and SAP GTS to analyze transactional trade data and optimize trade processes, ensuring compliance with regional regulatory requirements.</li>
<li>Manage SharePoint platforms to facilitate collaboration with internal stakeholders and maintain EU/CH trade documentation for strategic initiatives.</li>
<li>Facilitate and manage external audits by competent authorities, specifically customs authorities and perform internal assessments to mitigate trade risks (e.g. audits, sanctions due diligence).</li>
<li>Monitor EU and Swiss trade and customs policy developments and advise stakeholders on their strategic impact on Celanese’s operations.</li>
<li>Provide guidance for the handling of Certificates of Origin in EMEA- region for internal stakeholders.</li>

<h2>Qualifications</h2>

<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in international business, Supply Chain, Law, or a related field.</li>
<li>7+ years of experience in EMEA trade compliance.</li>
<li>Expert mastery of EU and Swiss trade concepts, including: EU Union Customs Code (UCC), tariff classification, valuation, and origin rules.</li>
<li>Strong strategic planning skills with a proven ability to align trade compliance with business objectives.</li>
<li>Knowledge of SAP GTS specific trade management and system integration.</li>
<li>Advanced Excel skills for multi-source data analysis and strategic reporting.</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience interfacing with internal stakeholders (e.g., supply chain, legal, finance) to drive trade-related outcomes.</li>
<li>Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership abilities.</li>
<li>Fluency in English; proficiency in additional EU languages (e.g., German, French) is a plus.</li>
