Director of Purchasing (Tactical)

The Director of Purchasing (Tactical) will lead Integra’s tactical procurement function, overseeing day-to-day purchasing operations to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality supply of materials and components to support production schedules and customer commitments. This role will directly manage three Purchasing Managers—one based in Harrow, Canada; one in Akron, Ohio; and one in Houston, Texas—providing leadership, guidance, and performance management to ensure consistent execution across all sites. The Director will collaborate closely with supply planning, operations, logistics, and quality to maintain material availability, improve supplier performance, and resolve operational supply issues.

Primary Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and develop the tactical purchasing team, including three Purchasing Managers and their respective site-based buyers.

Assign workloads, set priorities, and ensure purchasing teams maintain operational focus on timely and accurate PO placement and supplier acknowledgments.

Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.

Oversee day-to-day purchasing execution for all commodities, ensuring timely delivery to meet production requirements across all three sites.

Monitor open orders, identify risks, and coordinate expedites to prevent production disruptions.

Ensure ERP (Deltek Costpoint) purchasing workflows are followed and data accuracy is maintained at each location.

Timely ordering and order monitoring for direct-to-site materials for specific projects.

Partner with category management, quality, and operations to resolve supplier delivery or quality issues (NCRs, corrective actions).

Track and report supplier on-time delivery (OTD) performance across all sites and escalate recurring issues, and any other relevant KPI.

Coordinate with Strategic Sourcing on supplier transitions, new supplier onboarding, and cost initiatives.

Collaborate with Materials, Receiving and Accounts Payables teams, and liaison with Suppliers, to troubleshoot and resolve any receiving/payment issues.

Standardize purchasing procedures across all three locations to drive efficiency and consistency.

Implement best practices for order tracking, expediting, and communication with suppliers.

Align purchasing activities with SIOP outputs, production schedules, and inventory targets.

Work with supply planning to ensure purchasing aligns with demand forecasts.

Collaborate with logistics for on-time inbound shipments and documentation compliance.

Support engineering and operations in material availability for NPI projects and urgent builds.

Professional Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Operations, or related field.

Minimum 8–10 years of procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing multi-site purchasing operations.

Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems (Deltek Costpoint experience preferred).

Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with electrical and mechanical product categories.

Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Experience working within a SIOP framework.

Hands-on leadership with a focus on operational excellence

Effective communicator across all levels of the organization
