Healthy Pet is currently seeking an Accounting Supervisor to join our growing Accounting team. The Accounting Supervisor reports to the Director of Finance and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department within the organization. The Accounting Supervisor leads the Accounting group and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.


The salary range for this position is:  $75,000 - $90,000/year DOE


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Leads the Accounting group, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll in the day-to-day operations of the accounting department with an inclusive attitude, promoting continuous improvement within the department and encouraging the development of others.
  • Performs general accounting functions in accordance with policies, procedures, legal requirements, confidentiality and other requirements.
  • Collaborates with other departments to support their financial needs and provide insights into financial performance.
  • Participates in the assessment and documentation of the Company’s internal controls structure. Reviews and approves work of staff for accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepares, edits and/or update and maintains files, records, and other documents. Runs and compiles routine and diverse reports including costing reports.
  • Reviews bi-weekly payrolls and provides back up assistance.  
  • Performs month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Prepares and/or reviews state and local taxes.
  • Initiates the progression and assists in the maintenance of the Enterprise Resource Management system (SAP). Modifies systems and troubleshoots routine problems as needed.  
  • Participates in new employee selection. Assigns, trains, supervises and evaluates work of staff. Ensures strict adherence to safety policies, procedures and regulations. Conducts performance evaluations to guide development of employees and provide a performance record. Initiates, documents and implements disciplinary actions as approved.
  • Works with staff and other departments to create or update and implement process improvement procedures, tasks, workflows and systems.
  • Accurately provide Enhanced Business Reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience in General Ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax, and banking.
  • 2+ years experience in accounting, including one year in a supervisory capacity.
  • ERP familiarity, preferably in SAP.
  • Proficient in MS Office products with advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Exercise continuous leadership to focus efforts on priorities. Train, direct, and coach staff. Promote staff and team development and high performance by assuring regular, effective, and consistent feedback.
  • Apply sound judgement, analytical and problem-solving techniques to make reasoned, timely, and consistent decisions.
  • Be attentive and maintain a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
