Job Summary: 

Drives federal government affairs function under the supervision of the Senior Vice President, Government Affairs. Develops and advocates public policy positions in support of Edwards patient-focused mission.

How you will make an impact:

  • Develop strategies including anticipating, proactively identify and prioritize federal focused issues based on public policy research, monitoring and analysis that support Edwards’s goals/objectives

  • Represent and promote broader Edwards federal government affairs positions with industry trade associations.

  • Attend and report back to Government Affairs team 

  • Identify and prioritize key, relevant issues of concern to Edwards 

  • Develop strong rapport with trade association staff and colleagues from other companies

  • Educate and persuasively communicate to lawmakers, key stakeholders, and alliances on Edwards' positions on relevant public health, economic, and clinical issues

  • Cultivate and develop relationships with elected officials, policy makers, and stakeholders critical to furthering Edwards interests while driving their engagement on key public policy issues

  • Manage relationship with Edwards federal GA consultants to set objectives, define missions and ensure execution in support of Federal legislative strategies.

  • Set the Strategy and co-lead the company’s political action committee initiatives, including:

    • Recommend employee participation campaigns and propose roll-out strategy for board approval

    • Develop campaign timeline and budget, using knowledge of Political Action Committee (PAC) bylaws

    • Conduct campaign status meetings with management

    • Establish Edwards PAC related board presentation agenda

    • Manage Edwards PAC operations and administration

  • Oversee PAC contributions and reporting filings in compliance with federal regulations, including assessing qualification of corporate activities and expenditures

  • Develop annual political budget for the PAC and manage disbursement of funds

  • Arrange and manage visits of federal public officials to Company offices, including preparing background issue briefs and Company information

  • Serve in an advisory role to management to provide direction and guidance to project teams to execute enterprise-level projects, initiatives and/or programs

  • Other duties assigned by Leadership

What you’ll need (required):

  • Bachelor's Degree in in related field

  • Minimum of 14 years related experience in government affairs and coursework, seminars, and/or other formal government and/or trade association training

What else we look for (preferred):

  • Full knowledge of legislative and policy making process

  • Full knowledge and understanding of legal requirements relevant to political contribution disclosure

  • Experience in all aspects of running a Political Action Committee

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill

  • Strong negotiating and relationship management skills

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to influence change

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to make independent decisions, including change of course, as necessary, to meet end goals

  • Strict attention to detail

  • Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Must be able to work in a team environment, including inter-departmental teams

  • Ability to interact with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring coordination between organizations

  • Proven expertise in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint and Excel

  • Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of
