IP & Security Data Center Engineer

Role purpose:

Responsible for the design and implementation of service LAN network capabilities that support reliable and secure hosted and collaborative services across Vodafone, with main focus in: 

• the overall High/Low Level Design and working configuration for the network capabilities

• establishing the networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, and defining, documenting and enforcing system standards

• designing and implementing new solutions and improve resilience of the current environment

• maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimization

• developing and expanding the team’s technical skills and experience

• IP connectivity design based on customer demand

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

Responsible for High Level and Low Level Design engineering and network design optimization

o Drive increased quality of Vodafone network end to end
o Provide HLDs, LLDs, define templates, modularize and industrialize configuration items and their implementation, leveraging on the automation framework.
o Design and implement Cyber security measures to reduce the vulnerability of the Service LAN
implement virtualization and segregation concepts
o Harmonize data centre network environments and services. Harmonize LAN services, enable seamless access over a converged wired/wireless network to global IT systems 
o Engineer and deliver the network fit for purpose including understanding of how our services/applications layer will run across the network (capacity, capability, utilisation)
o Conduct proof of concept (POC) validation

Responsible for optimal implementation process that delivers ensured quality

o Optimize the design and implementation costs and achieve a harmonized & simplified network infrastructure
o Take control over CAPEX budget; forecast, planning, allocation, approval process, administration
o Deliver the validated solution to its operational environment and deliver training. Hand over the accepted solution to Operations and maintenance team
o Plan changes and support of Change Management Process
o Supervise  external supporters and 3rd parties 
o Assure quality  in the design and implementation process
o Support, Test & Accept/Audit the delivered solution
o Manage and control the different existing test environments
o Define necessary test catalogues and test plans
o Document test & QA activities

 

Responsible to ensure a network documentation

o Support the state-of-the art network documentation for the implemented solution that is aligned with Cyber Security  architecture
o Ensure the quality of the documentation
o Support the data population and accuracy of the Asset- and Change Management - Databases 

 

Responsible to ensure network harmonisation and standardization across the Region / the local market
o Harmonize Service LAN network across European environments and services 
o Drive network standards across Local markets
o Drive + Support Network innovations as SDN

 

Collaboration and Teamwork
o Alignment with other engineering, implementation, and operations teams in Vodafone
o Development of harmonized solutions within Regions and Cyber Security
o Share expertise with other network teams across Vodafone

 

Key performance indicators:

• Quality service LAN network design and implementation in time and budget

• Service LAN network connectivity delivery aligned to harmonised architecture. Service LAN Network infrastructure continuous improvement and simplification

• Installation / System / Design / Test documentation for the handover to operations with Knowledge transfer
