THE POSITION: COM Production Support Lead
The COM (Customer Owned Material) Production Support Lead is responsible for detailing and planning by actioning on the processes set forth by the company. This position builds strong relationships with manufacturing team members by providing timely and accurate work to the production departments. Proficiency in this position is attained by understanding all aspects of production and helping it evolve with production demands.
Essential Job Functions of the position may include:
- Organize, detail (i.e., prepare work instructions), schedule, launch, and monitor the performance of all COM orders assigned to the workroom.
- Coordinate with the Order Management team via established procedures to ensure an open, consistent, and clear communication channel through to the customer.
- Download and analyze reports from e-PIC, including credit-approved orders and those on back order, to inform batching decisions.
- Detail all COM orders ensuring they are ready and logically able to be manufactured by incorporating all customizations into the appropriate manufacturing systems.
- Act as the Product Engineering SME’s liaison for all things COM and custom.
- Audit non-COM orders for customization detailing accuracy and work with the Supervisor to address training gaps.
- Report audit failures as quality defects to the Quality team.
- Prepare and organize COM batches and schedule for manufacturing, including preparing the files and documentation necessary for manual and automated processes.
- Maintain and update the Routing Dashboard, ensuring accurate and real-time representation of pre-production activities and coordinate with the production floor for quick resolution for any carts placed on hold.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement for all processes and procedures within the job scope.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Prior experience as a leader in process oriented environment required
- Excellent communication skills required. English required, Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing concepts preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, and a strong work ethic.
- Must be proficient in PC usage and MS Office and be able to write clear and legible emails.
- Flexible, self-starter, able to manage multiple ongoing projects without close supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have the ability to train personnel on all aspects of the production preparation.
- A demonstrated team-orientation with all levels of employees.
- Requires 3+ years of general work experience.
- Prior experience in production planning, detailing (i.e. work instruction preparation), batching, or similar roles within a manufacturing environment; experience in the window treatments industry is a plus.
- Ability to learn new software tools quickly such as e-PIC and Tiger Link.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
