Summary of Job Duties:

The Optometrist provides comprehensive primary eye care services within the Jones Eye Institute. This position is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing ocular conditions while delivering high-quality clinical care to patients. The Optometrist collaborates with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care and appropriate referrals.


Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution

  • Active Arkansas Optometry License or eligibility for licensure in Arkansas


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations, including visual field testing, slit lamp evaluations, and tonometry

  • Diagnose and manage ocular diseases and disorders

  • Prescribe corrective lenses (eyeglasses and contact lenses)

  • Prescribe oral and topical medications for the treatment of eye conditions

  • Educate patients on proper eye care and preventative practices

  • Obtain and document detailed medical histories in the electronic medical record

  • Refer patients to subspecialty ophthalmologists for surgical or advance
