Job Summary
Reports to the Director-Nursing Practice Excellence. Manages the daily operations and activities of the nursing department within a specific service line. Performs complex managerial and professional nursing work within the scope of practice of the RN. Demonstrates experience and expertise in a specific area of clinical nursing and implements the role based on the needs of the patient, the nursing staff and the health care delivery system. Assists with program development, performance management, knowledge management, and practice management. Works collaboratively with nursing education, nursing leadership, and other disciplines/services to improve the delivery of patient care.Accountabilities
Leadership: Provides effective leadership by coordinating and integrating services in specialty area, with other departments and with the system functions. Implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of individual specialty services. Conducts periodic rounds to validate employee compliance with current and new initiatives in the service line. 15%
Financial: Manages departmental budget including processes to monitor operational and capital expenses. 15%
Human Resource Management: Determines qualifications, competence and performance expectations; implements and monitors staffing plans; provides orientation, in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department and applies policies/procedures pertaining to human resources management. 15%
Program Development: Provides leadership for program development including assessment, research, training design, training delivery and evaluation of orientation, training, continuing education as well as customized solutions to enhance organizational effectiveness while supporting continuous learning, inquiry and dialogue, collaborative and team learning. Assesses and monitors program performance by collecting and analyzing the data to evaluate and improve operational processes and performance. 15%
Performance Management: Facilitates individual, team, and organizational performance management which include competency development and evaluation, change management processes, work and accountability processes, performance consultation and mentoring staff, and development of job/performance aids. 15%
Knowledge Management: Facilitates knowledge management function to develop employee’s ability to learn, adapt, and change swiftly as new technology emerges and clinical practice evolves. Oversees services to develop systems to capture and share learning quickly and efficiently throughout the organization as a subject matter expert. This includes driving policy and procedure changes, developing learning resources and implementing learning transfer strategies. Manages information by providing information systems and data management for department operations and performance improvement. 10%
Clinical Practice: Provides services to improve the delivery of patient care which includes facilitating quality and patient safety initiatives, participating in shared leadership, establishing standards of care and documentation standards and providing direct patient care. Identify and implement best practices that are evidence-based across all Prisma Health campuses. 10%

Supervisory/Management ResponsibilitiesJob has direct and/or indirect supervision of employees that may include final budget authority, hire/termination/disciplinary authority, performance appraisal responsibility. Job will be considered a member of the management staff with direct reports.Minimum EducationBachelor’s degree in nursing, and certification in specialty area required.Master's degree preferred.Minimum Experience5 years RN experience with at least 2 years in practice area or equivalent experience; has practiced nursing in the last 3 years.Previous management experience preferred.Required Certifications/Registrations/LicensesRN currently licensed in South Carolina.BLS required.Certification in specialty area required.Other Required ExperienceMust possess knowledge and skills necessary to treat and/or educate patients in service area; works with limited supervision; requires detailed working knowledge, and the skills to use Lawson scheduling, Kronos payroll system, and toApply for this role
