SUMMARY:
The Associate Engagement Specialist assists the NBS Culture Manager and the business segment to implement sustainable culture programs/events that will engage and retain NBS associates from all working environments whether in the office, remote, or hybrid. This position will assist in designing, implementing, executing, and maintaining multiple segment-level initiatives that provide an aligned NBS culture. Leveraging resources and relationships within NBS and corporately, programs will emphasize Nelnet and NBS mission, vision, and core values. The Associate Engagement Specialist helps gather and review goals and metrics for measuring the success of programs, as well as assists in implementing innovative strategies for growth and improvement in associate engagement, onboarding, and recognition.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate collaborative opportunities and support the creation of community and belonging for all associates through research and development of opportunities (across NBS) to increase associate and leadership engagement, as well as create a sense of community and belonging for all associates.

  • Assist with the overall approach to culture for NBS, utilizing available resources, as well as new and innovative ways to create connections.  This may encompass:

    • NBS and Nelnet mission, vision, and values,

    • NBS top priorities, goals, and yearly initiatives,

    • Culture programs (e.g. Career Passport, Leader Programming, Recognition Programming, etc.)

    • NBS onboarding programs,

    • NBS communication,

    • Motivational tools and programs,

    • Development of videos supporting culture initiatives; and

    • Analysis of associate survey results to identify areas of opportunity and engagement. 

  • Be the primary point person for facilitating and maintaining NBS Onboarding programs, including JumpStart and NBS Orientation.

  • Assist in maintaining NBS culture resources, calendars, and other NBS culture items.

  • Assist in maintaining our peer-to-peer recognition platform.

  • Research and assist in establishing metrics to measure success, as well as rewards and recognition to celebrate improvement in areas of culture, development, and belonging (e.g., increase in retention, engagement survey scores internal promotions, etc.).

  • Champion the Nelnet Mission and Core Values and a sense of social responsibility.

  • Explore new opportunities to improve associate engagement, onboarding, and recognition.

  • Be a Culture Advocate for NBS, regularly promoting new and existing ways to engage and connect within NBS by attending team meetings, as well as writing articles in NBS communications which promote culture, engagement, etc.

  • Assist in delivery of new team member training.

  • Research and stay current on culture initiatives and trends throughout the business industry.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years professional work experience.

  • Experience facilitating in front of groups.

  • Experience in building SharePoint sites preferred.

  • 1+ years of project management experience preferred.

  • 1+ years of experience in developing and editing videos preferred.

COMPETENCIES – SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft tools, including Teams, Office365, Lists, and Sharepoint

  • Strong team-oriented interpersonal skills.

  • Strategic skills and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Ability to prioritize and perform a variety of tasks.

  • Excellent judgment and trustworthy.
