The Spring Accounts Processing Intern plays a vital role in supporting the Accounts Processing team at RWE Clean Energy. This internship involves reviewing aging reports for prompt payments, managing vendor setups, executing Month-End Close tasks, and supporting various financial analyses. Responsibilities include ensuring accurate records, delivering excellent customer service, and optimizing payment processes. The intern will gain exposure to diverse financial operations and the opportunity to contribute to the teams success.
Responsibilities:
- Review weekly aging reports to ensure timely payment of posted invoices
- Contribute to various ad hoc projects and tasks as required to support the team's objectives
- Set up manual wires in the bank’s online system for associated payments
- Communicate promptly with vendors and internal customers regarding accounts payable discrepancies and issues
- Execute Month-End Close activities, including AP accruals and resolution of GR/IR issues
- Initiate and manage new vendor setups in SAP while maintaining updated vendor banking records
- Submit requests for vendor banking changes to minimize check payments
- Conduct diverse AP analyses and tasks as required
- Assist in managing and organizing the AP mailboxes
- Handle incoming AP mail at the office, scanning invoices into the AP inbox
- Conduct comprehensive discrepancy research for accurate financial records
- Provide exceptional customer service to both external and internal stakeholders
- Dispatch in-house checks to vendors and maintain meticulous invoice and manual archives
- Contact vendors with outstanding checks to verify and reconcile open balances
- Offer support as needed for month-end close processes
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in an accredited US university program, pursuing a degree in finance, accounting or other related discipline preferred
- Basic knowledge of principles, practices, regulations, and procedures relating to accounts payable
- Familiarity with SAP for initiating and managing vendor setups
- Detail-oriented for accurate organization of AP mailboxes and invoice scanning
- Customer service skills for assisting external vendors and internal stakeholders
- Problem-solving abilities for discrepancy research and reconciliation
- Adaptability and willingness to assist with various tasks in a team setting
This is a full-time 12-week summer internship starting at the end of January in either the Chicago or Austin office.
