The Software Engineering team is looking for a new member who is eager to learn and master the following duties and responsibilities to help meet the challenges of the future.  The software team works in an Agile software development environment that includes continuous integration and test.  The software team is part of a larger integrated engineering team responsible for the production, fielding, sustainment, and enhancement of the US Navy’s next generation autonomous Joint Precision and Approach Landing System (JPALS).

The software engineering team members are responsible for actively collaborating to define work objectives, make work assignments, and regularly report progress and challenges.  The software team is responsible for the software in two subsystems:  a redundant embedded real-time safety critical processor, and a monitor and control capability for the system’s operators.  The team is required to perform work assignments in accordance with the approved software engineering practices and maintains these practices as tools, processes, and resources evolve.

What You Will Do
    • Work on investigation and troubleshooting of reported anomalies
    • Develop proposal that solve issues or will realize enhancements
    • Work on implementing of source code changes including updates to the build processes
    • Work on testing of code changes including updates to associated software tests
    • Work on verifying the updates work on the target platform including updating deployment scripts and adaptation data
    • Perform Design Documentation

Qualifications You Must Have
    • Basic understanding of Software Engineering development and maintenance practices
    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and less than 2 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
    • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required 
    • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance 

Qualifications We Prefer
    • Experience with Operating systems:  Linux, VxWorks
    • Experience with Languages: C, Java, Perl, Linux shells
    • Experience with Embedded real-time software and operating systems 
    • Experience with Safety critical software
    • Experience with Network Protocols: IP, UDP/IP, UDP/IP, SNMP
    • Experience with HTTPS, XML
    • Experience with Simulink and Simulink Test
    • Experience with the following tools: Jira, BitBucket, Eggplant scripting, Coverity, Vectorcast, Jenkins
