OVERVIEW
The Multnomah County Department of Community Services is seeking a full-time Planner Principal to join the team! In this strategic role, you will oversee the Transportation Division's Current Planning and Development function. This program includes current planning, right of way permitting, and inspection.
In this role, you will:
Leverage your knowledge of transportation planning to guide large, complex, and politically sensitive development projects
Represent the County while engaging with developers and applicants
Identify and implement meaningful process improvements
Collaborate with County partners across the region on critical transportation issues and goals
Coach staff and cultivate a cohesive, high-achieving team environment
Other duties include:
Managing direct reports with diverse skill sets, work assignments, and backgrounds
Oversee/advise staff in problem solving on complex issues (development review, permitting, for urban and rural roads and Willamette River Bridges)
Facilitating and cultivating teamwork within the group and with other programs in the Division.
Developing program budget and making recommendations to the division director for program improvements
Presenting complex topics in a simplified manner to elected officials at the county and cities

Who We Are
The Multnomah County Transportation Division includes Planning, Capital Projects, Operations & Maintenance, and Survey. This Division is responsible for land survey and transportation infrastructure in Multnomah County. This includes 270 center lane miles of roads in urban and rural areas, 6 Willamette River bridges (4 of which are movable structures), thousands of drainage culverts, 25 small bridges, several major culverts, and other assets critical to the proper function of the transportation system. The Division is part of the Department of Community Services (DCS).
