About the role

Overview

Join the Utah State University Nursing Department in Logan, Utah, as a full-time Clinical and Simulation Coordinator. We seek a motivated individual to facilitate clinical placements and manage simulation operations for our BSN program. This position will be hired as either a Program Coordinator II or Program Coordinator III dependent on duties assigned.

Responsibilities

Clinical Coordination (50-60%)

  • Facilitate clinical placements for undergraduate students
  • Plan schedules for student practicums, skills labs, and simulation activities
  • Communicate with clinical sites to schedule student clinical rotations
  • Manage databases of clinical partnerships and student practicums
  • Address student clinical placement issues

Simulation Coordination (40-50%)

  • Provide oversight of clinical and simulation experiences
  • Implement best-practice simulation methods and technologies
  • Manage student employees
  • Oversee technology/equipment purchases and manage inventory
  • Research and ensure availability of current medical equipment and supplies
  • Conduct equipment quality checks and arrange for repairs or replacements as needed

Program Coordinator III

In addition to the duties listed above, the Program Coordinator III will be the central contact for coordinating and collaborating with USU statewide nursing simulations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus two years of relevant work experience; or a master’s degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required
  • Driving is an essential function of this position; valid driver’s license is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Effective communication skills to engage with students, clinical partners, supervisors, and the public
  • Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
  • Familiarity with current nursing practices, concepts, principles, and skills.
  • Prior experience in clinical education and/or nursing simulation.
  • Maintenance and repair of simulation manikins to ensure optimal functionality and longevity.

  • Detail-oriented and articulate
  • Leadership and organizational proficiency
  • Critical thinking skills to identify challenges and resolve issues in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to clearly and professionally communicate with diverse groups including faculty, staff, healthcare professionals, students, and community members

Advertised Salary

$43,150 - $60,000; Commensurate with experience, plus excellent benefits

The Department of Nursing http://nursing.usu.edu is in the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services. The Baccalaureate Nursing degree, including RN to BSN completion, is offered on the Logan campus. The Practical Nursing certificate and Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing are offered at our Statewide (Utah) Campus sites.

 

The BSN program offers two tracks: pre-licensure and RN to BSN. Student admission is competitive and  NCLEX pass rates, program completion, and employment have been in the upper 90% range. The Nursing program is currently undergoing expansion to accommodate more students, with an extensive remodel recently completed. Faculty share a commitment to student success and the preparation of excellent future colleagues.
