We are looking for technically skilled candidates with advanced problem-solving abilities for the position of the Junior Cloud Operations (CloudOps) Engineer. This position is responsible for supporting hosted customers and, at varying levels, for software installations and configuration, continuous systems analysis, technical customer support, systems administration, and database administration for the SaaS server technologies used in customer hosted environments. Work includes installation and configuration, monitoring, upgrading, and maintenance of application servers to meet user needs and maximize system availability, security, and performance of all hosted systems.
Key Objectives
Objective #1: Process Success
- Monitor and troubleshoot application issues to ensure high availability, optimal performance, and system responsiveness
- Gather, report, and interpret department data to implement process improvement
- Perform daily system administration tasks to verify that all systems are up and running
- Execute and iterate on the Organizational Delivery Strategy
- Execute and inform department initiatives of standardization, automation, and cost control
- Improve infrastructure operations through better use of monitoring, cloud coding, and scripting best practices
- Install and configure software in virtualized environments to ensure high availability
Objective #2: People Success
- Review and revise department resource library files for effective knowledge sharing
- Participate in customer calls in support of initiatives and incident response as needed
- Consult with client stakeholders on strategies for deployment of new cloud technology implementations, monitoring and optimization of existing equipment
- Execute any SDLC tasks including requirements definition, design, development, peer review, testing, documentation, release, deployment, operations, maintenance
- Contribute to root cause analysis for production issues where the root cause is in infrastructure, environment, configuration, or deployment routines; understand when to escalate to product development teams; remediate root causes and implement preventative actions
- Consult with client stakeholders on strategies for deployment of new cloud technology implementations, monitoring and optimization of existing equipment
- Prepare reports for effective change management and compliance-driven activity
- Participate in after-hours maintenance and respond to emergencies when necessary
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience with AWS or Azure
