IHC in Kokomo, Indiana is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and is looking for a rewarding opportunity! Overview:

• Functions as a support person for the patient; assists the patient to the examination room, gives information to the patient, and collects information for the provider
• Obtains vital signs and other pertinent physical data
• Completes and updates the medical history of the patient
• Check the health care plan appropriate for the patient’s age
• Assists the doctor with examinations and minor surgeries, performs EKGs, hearing and vision testing, and nebulizer treatments
• Performs venipunctures and gives immunizations
• Performs Hct/Hgb’s, hematocrit, blood sugars, urine dipsticks, pregnancy tests, lead screens, strep tests, etc
• Prepares and sends out laboratory, pap, lead screens, and STD for testing
• Keeps logs and paperwork associated with the above tests and procedures current
• Records laboratory tests and processes laboratory test results
• Follows up on TB and Immunizations
• Updates EMR with test results and checks results against the lab test log.
• Completes medical and laboratory supply inventories for all exam rooms and labs
• Sterilizes instruments

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Required: Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program (MA) 
• Required: Certified Medical Assistant: Passed the CMA, RMA, or CCMA exam
• Required: Updated resume including education, dates & certificates at the time of application (Diploma, Degree, or Certificate) 
• Bilingual: Preferred but not required for this position
• Proof of current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (AED included)
• Experience with electronic health records is preferred (eCW is a plus)
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Interacts with colleagues and patients in a professional manner
• Possess excellent communication skills
