Primary Purpose of this Position:
This position is responsible for partnering with the Director, Global Benefits & Recognition to define the strategy, design and governance of Ball’s various benefits and recognition programs and serves as the program manager for all assigned plans and offerings. Based on business needs and challenges, responsibilities include, but are not limited to, benefits market research and analysis; design recommendations; pension de-risking initiatives; vendor selection analysis and management; coordination with consultants, vendors, and brokers; and reporting to the Global Pensions and Benefits Committee and/or the Benefits Plan Investment Committee as it pertains to program governance. This position is accountable for the successful delivery of programs through strong partnership with internal stakeholders, including HR and the benefits administration team.
What will you be responsible for?
- Partners with the Director, Global Benefits, to ensure the development and recommendation of U.S benefit plan design, administration, communications and financial management design principles align with global strategy and guiding principles:
- Acts as the expert for benefits and recognition to develop and prioritize objectives. Provides strategic recommendations based on current environment, business needs, governance requirements, and understanding of local market which may affect benefits and recognition design and practices.
- Leads Ball’s participation in various benefits and recognition surveys in order to obtain benchmarks and to ensure adequate understanding of local market dynamics and developments. Evaluates current benefits and recognition programs through research/surveys and analyses trends to ensure programs are competitive to market, cost-efficient, and compliant with mandatory requirements.
- Supports internal stakeholder groups, including finance, accounting and treasury in creating and maintaining benefits and recognition budgets, forecasting and expense reporting requirements and delivery in order to optimize cash and accounting impact.
- Ensures optimal financing of local risk benefit programs (e.g. fully insured vs. self-insured, recommendation of stop-loss programs, etc.).
- Accountable for the successful delivery of assigned benefits and recognition programs:
- Responsible for partnering with benefits administration team to ensure proper employee experience, and serving as the Subject Matter Expert for escalations and interpretation of benefits plans and recognition programs provisions, policies and procedures.
- Responsible for effective relationships with external consultants, insurance companies, TPAs and other providers in order to deliver timely, targeted and cost-effective benefits and recognition solutions, while ensuring best-in-class services are provided.
- Partners with the Global Total Rewards Transformation & Communications leader to develop and deliver effective communications of existing and new benefits plans and recognition programs.
- Manages benefits and recognition projects which may be required on an ad hoc basis.
- Accountable for governance of assigned benefits plans and recognition programs at Ball:
- Periodic reporting on benefits plans and recognition programs including compliance, administration best practices, design, financials and associated supporting benchmarks to management and fiduciary committees. This will also include monitoring reports for third parties involved in benefits plans and recognition programs, such as brokers, administrators or other specialists. May include serving management or fiduciary committees in a formal capacity (e.g., Secretary).
- Develops and is accountable for governance guidelines for and ensuring such guidelines are established, understood and adhered to via partnerships with HR leadership, benefits administration team and other stakeholders. Partners with such stakeholders to develop and maintain benefits and recognition policies and disseminates internal best practices, as necessary, to ensure consistency of administrative practices and in applying plan rules.
