Communications and Engagement Assistant Director, Americas Assurance

 

Join our Brand, Marketing and Communications (BMC) team and you’ll directly support and promote our brand and reputation. Through internal communications, public relations and corporate communications, you’ll provide a wide range of marketing and communications services to internal and external audiences. These include current and future clients, our current and future employees, alumni, regulators, the media and the communities within which we operate.

 

The opportunity

You’ll support the communications strategy for Americas Assurance by creating and executing on communications plans for the advisory business groups within Assurance – Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS), Climate Change and Sustainability Services (CCaSS), Forensic & Integrity Services (FIS) and the Expanded Assurance (EA) group of services. You’ll drive clear communications regarding strategy, direction and overall business performance, and ensure alignment between the Assurance service line’s broad business priorities and the individual objectives for each of the advisory sub-service lines. You’ll support business objectives, create and coordinate communications initiatives, and measure and track results.

 

Your key responsibilities

With oversight from the Americas Assurance Communications and Engagement Leader, you’ll be expected to create, develop and manage scope and schedule for moderate to complex communications projects for the various internal audience groups within FAAS, CCaaSS, FIS and EA. You’ll collaborate closely with the leaders of each of these sub-service lines and their leadership teams to develop plans that effectively communicate their strategic objectives, in conjunction with Global and Americas team members currently managing the sub-service lines.

 

The ability to present complex ideas, share guidance and make recommendations and the ability to then execute on communications plans from start to finish is critical. You’ll also be expected to collaborate across the broader Assurance BMC team and other internal stakeholder groups to drive effectiveness of the strategy and ensure message alignment. The person in this role will oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of one communications team member.

 

Skills and attributes for success

  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong levels of influence with senior-level stakeholders and executive sponsors, proactively manage their expectations and build trust
  • Demonstrated experience at creating strategic, targeted and impactful communications for both leadership and all-people audiences that inform, inspire and motivate
  • Comfort with navigating complexity and the ability to maintain composure and a continuous improvement mindset 
  • Ability to draft, obtain approval for and execute messaging through a variety of channels including webcasts, podcasts, videos, social media, newsletters, leadership and all-hands meetings, presentations, emails, daily news articles, intranet updates, and thought leadership
  • Possess relevant market insight respective to your function and a comfort level working across heavily matrixed environments within service lines, industries, function areas and client groups
  • Strong understanding of environmental factors affecting the firm, the practice and our markets

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • 10-plus years of experience; internal communications experience is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including presentations) as well as listening and interpretation skills
  • Must be able to articulate complex and/or technical subject matter in a straightforward, concise and easily digestible manner for broad audiences
  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills, including the development of others
  • Possesses poise and confidence to professionally interact with all levels of leadership

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Ability to understand the goals and objectives of various senior-level stakeholders and synthesize business priorities into a clear communications plan
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a communications subject matter expert and trusted strategic counselor to business leaders
  • Thorough understanding of the available tools and technology to measure impact of communication initiatives
