JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Manager, Traffic is responsible for overseeing the management of both domestic and international transportation for Viega LLC. This includes strategic planning, negotiating freight contracts and managing freight costs. This role is also responsible for managing, selecting, developing, and retaining a high-performance team.
JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS
Management
- Manages, trains, and mentors a high performance team.
- Conducts timely and accurate employee performance evaluations; address performance issues as needed.
- Meets regularly with director and direct reports to discuss goals, strategies and objectives.
- Motivates staff to improve quality of work and provides training and development opportunities as needed.
- Ensures company policies and guidelines, as set forth in the Corporate Human Resources Policy manual are followed; maintains a safe and clean work environment.
Traffic
- Negotiates and maintains corporate freight contracts
- Manages freight costs and activities for all warehouse locations
- Reviews, monitors, and analyzes shipment activity to maximize ability to deliver
- Develops and implements process improvements to reduce supply chain cost
- Analyzes customer, region, and carrier information to ensure customer satisfaction
- Develops yearly transportation budget
- Prepares KPI’s and reports to provide accurate data on freight spend
- Review shipment activity to determine if proper carrier was used
Other
- Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to conduct formal training and communicate complex legal requirements in a simple, straightforward manner.
- Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.
Special Job Dimensions
May be required to travel occasionally.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven ability in negotiating contracts
- Ability to lead and manage others in a team environment
- Strong knowledge of US import/export regulations
- Strong knowledge of classification, NAFTA and valuation
- Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills required.
- Ability to identify, communicate, plan, and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, minimize risk, and/or reduce costs.
Education, Certification/License & Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant area and 10 years of logistics/compliance experience
- Customs broker license preferred
