Senior Staff Software Engineer – Justworks, Inc. – New York, NY.    

Job Duties: Drive the multi-year journey of architecting and building secure, scalable, distributed architecture of Justworks. Work with other engineers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to bring new products and features to our customers, typically in an iterative fashion, taking into account user feedback. Partner with product and platform engineering leads and solve mission critical problems with high quality engineering disciplines. Work with UX Architect and Design Leads to improve customer experience. Collaborate with Infrastructure and Security Leads in advancing our security posture by improving identity management and adding deeper insights. Work with cross-functional leads to define and be accountable for delivering business/customer value and metrics. Drive sound technical decision-making and lead technical conversations with other teams across Justworks. Enhance testing, monitoring and continuous deployment infrastructure. Scope and lead complex projects or changes that will benefit the entire organization. Help define and communicate technical standards and best practices. Lead and facilitate workshops, architecture sessions, etc. to drive the technical vision forward. Serve as a role model for and work towards improving engineering standards, tooling, and processes. Mentor engineers to help them grow their technical skills by fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Bring new ideas to scale the engineering organization as a key partner to the senior engineering leadership group. Communicate effectively to senior leaders from other functions and/or businesses.    

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field. Must have 10 years of professional experience working with complicated software systems at scale. Must have 10 years of experience in software architecture, data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and multiple engineering team collaboration. Must have 5 years of experience in leadership without formal direct reporting relationships, building APIs or webhooks, Javascript, MySQL, Kafka, and AWS. Must have 3 years of experience in Git, ElasticSearch, InfluxDB, Redshift, Jenkins, Nagios, Rollbar, Ruby on Rails and/or React, GraphQL, Docker, and DataDog. Must be able to work a hybrid work arrangement with Tuesdays and Thursdays required in office.   

Must have legal authority to work in the U.S. EEOE. 

Annual salary offered: $250,000 - $287,500. 

Actual compensation is based on multiple factors that are unique to each candidate, including and not limited to skill set, level of relevant experience, and specific work location.  Salary ranges for positions based in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
