About the role
Menlo School is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Campus Commuting Program Manager to lead GO MENLO, our sustainable transportation initiative, along with other traffic demand management efforts. This role is responsible for promoting carpooling, biking, walking, and school-sponsored transportation while supporting families with enrollment and day-to-day logistics. The manager will lead events and outreach campaigns, coordinate with home to school transportation vendors, and create student incentive programs. They will track participation data and report program impact to school leadership. Ideal candidates are passionate about sustainability, strong communicators, and comfortable working across departments and with external partners.Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate Enrollment and Operations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families enrolling in the GO MENLO student bus transportation program.
- Act as the main liaison for parents, ensuring clear and supportive communication about transportation logistics and eligibility
- Work closely with the school’s transportation vendor to optimize route stops based on demand, safety, and efficiency.
- Track registration data and identify areas to improve participation and service.
- Ensure smooth onboarding each school year through clear communication, timely support, and proactive problem-solving.
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the program, handling scheduling, troubleshooting, and coordination with stakeholders.
- Educate and Engage the Community
- Lead events and campaigns that raise awareness of the GO MENLO program and promote the program at admissions events, orientations, and school gatherings.
- Partner with students, faculty, and environmental committees to align transportation efforts with the school’s broader sustainability goals.
- Support families and staff in reducing single-occupancy vehicle use by promoting carpooling, biking, walking, and school-operated transportation.
- Create, implement and manage engaging incentive programs that encourage student and employee participation in sustainable commuting.
- Market and support initiatives like Green Ride Wednesdays to build a culture of environmentally conscious travel habits.
- Monitor and maintain campus bike infrastructure and pedestrian access; recommend safety and accessibility improvements.
- Track Participation and Program Impact
- Collect and analyze data on commuting behavior and environmental outcomes.
- Maintain accurate transportation information on the Menlo website and manage incentive programs for faculty and staff.
- Assist in compiling and presenting transportation- and traffic-related information to external stakeholders.
- Prepare and present findings, program updates, and strategic recommendations to the senior administrative team and school leadership.
- Support Departmental Operations
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the department
Physical Requirements:
- Regular attendance and physical presence at the job.
- Ability to lift and carry packages and equipment up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to walk, stand, and perform physical tasks throughout the day.
- Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Previous experience in a school environment is preferred.
- Capacity to handle emergent and unexpected situations with poise and efficiency.
- Highly organized with a proven ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with families, staff, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace.
- Minimum 3 years work experience.
