Senior Researcher in Visual and Multisensory Neuroscience – DTU Health Tech

<p>The Hearing Systems Section at DTU Health Tech is seeking a highly qualified candidate for a position as senior researcher in the field of cognitive neuroscience of vision and multisensory perception.<br/><br/><strong>Responsibilities </strong><br/> The successful candidate will contribute to advancing the field of cognitive neuroscience of vision and multisensory perception at DTU Health Tech, working in collaboration with internal teams and external partners. The aim is to support and expand world-class research into visual and multisensory neuroscience, particularly in the context of assistive technologies, within the Hearing Systems Section and its international research network. <br/><br/> The research will encompass behavioral psychophysics, eye tracking, and perceptual modelling to uncover the neural mechanisms of visual and auditory perception in both normal and impaired sensory systems. Additionally, the role will explore multisensory integration as support for individuals with hearing and vision loss. The focus areas include understanding the mechanisms underlying auditory and visual perception and eye movements in natural, everyday environments, and on investigating how visual and auditory perceptual integration are influenced by task demands, environmental factors, and individual differences in sensory health. The position will require close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, including mixed reality software engineers, accessibility professionals, and end-users with sensory disabilities, employing participatory design processes to develop and evaluate innovative assistive solutions.<br/><br/><strong>Qualifications </strong><br/> The successful candidate should have a documented strong background in experimental visual neuropsychology and the functional architecture of visual perception. The candidate should have proven experience working with individuals with disabilities in clinical settings, including their assessment. The candidate must demonstrate detailed knowledge and extensive experience within the following:</p> <ul> <li>Documented experimental proficiency in handling eye movement data for clinical diagnosis as well as for basic and applied research.</li> <li>Advanced analysis of behavioural and eye movement data for both basic research and for gaze-based interaction. </li> <li>Assessment methods of visual function, experimental psychophysics, cognitive neuroscience, cognitive testing, and gaze-based interaction design.</li> <li>Experience designing and developing assistive technologies with mixed reality headsets and eye-tracking.</li> </ul> <p>You must contribute to teaching at the Department. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.<br/><br/> As a formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as a researcher or postdoc. To be appointed as a senior researcher, you must have completed a didactic/pedagogic education.
