Summary:
We are seeking a Compliance Manager to join our team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring organizational adherence to tax regulations, labor laws, and internal corporate policies across payroll, tax, employee timekeeping, and expense reporting. This position will be assigned special projects and be expected to support other positions within the Accounting department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance & Setups:
Ensure corporate and employee tax configurations (federal, state, and local) are accurate and compliant with company tax structure and laws.
Partner with Accounting/Tax, Payroll, Legal, and HR to ensure correct jurisdiction setups.
Payroll & Expense Oversight:
Assist with processing payroll each pay period.
Support payroll by reviewing compliance with wage laws, deductions, and approvals.
Oversee employee time tracking for accuracy, completeness, and policy adherence.
Review and audit employee expense reports to ensure compliance with corporate policy.
General Ledger & Month-end Close:
Prepare and post payroll-related entries, including accruals, reclasses, and recurring and non-recurring entries
Maintain and reconcile payroll related accounts on a monthly basis, including preparing schedules, reconciliations, and variance analysis
Financial Controls:
Have basic knowledge and prepare work in accordance with GAAP, ensuring accuracy and integrity and use of financial controls.
Audit Preparation:
Prepare documents and schedules for external audits.
Process Improvement:
Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency, and automation in the department.
Work Experience, Education, and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field.
5+ years of experience in Tax, Compliance, Payroll, HR, or similar regulatory roles.
Experience with expense reporting systems (i.e. Concur, Expensify, Workday)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of corporate & employment tax regulations and payroll compliance standards.
High attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills,
Strong communication, interpersonal skills, organizational, and time management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial and company information.
