Job Description Summary:

Drive the strategy, performance, and optimization of financial systems and serve as a liaison between Finance and Accounting and Information Technology (IT) to ensure alignment between technology solutions and business goals, improving operational efficiency, and enabling accurate financial planning, analysis, and reporting.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Financial Systems Strategy and Business Partnership

  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on F&A processes and systems, and primary liaison to IT.
  • Build a comprehensive understanding of current and future F&A needs through discovery sessions.
  • Create and update the strategic F&A technology roadmap.
  • Collaborate with IT to resolve system issues quickly, ensuring smooth financial operations.
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Project Management and Implementation Oversight (20%)

  • Partner with IT to assess, plan, and coordinate projects.
  • Oversee system implementations, including planning, scheduling, and stakeholder communication.
  • ­ Lead project meetings to ensure cross-functional collaboration.
  • ­ Identify and address issues or risks early to keep projects on track.

Process Design and Optimization

  • Translate business needs into functional and technical requirements.
  • Leverage technical expertise to implement and configure ERP solutions (with execution handled by IT).
  • Build and update reports and data templates.
  • Map and improve business processes to streamline workflows.

Testing, Training and Documentation

  • Develop functional and technical requirement documents and test scripts.
  • Support user testing, training, and ongoing system help.
  • Create and maintain user guides and training materials.
  • Perform super user or system administrator tasks as platforms required.

Governance, Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure systems follow accounting standards (GAAP), internal controls, SOC-1, and other regulations.
  • Participate in annual IT disaster recovery testing and other compliance activities.
  • Monitor system integrity, data security, and adherence to company policies.

Reporting and Communication

  • Keep F&A leadership and stakeholders informed on project status, budgets, timelines, and risks.
  • Serve as the go-to expert for financial systems in F&A.
  • Lead post-implementation reviews to gather feedback and resolve issues.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, or related field.
  • Master’s degree, advanced certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA, or equivalent) or evidence of substantial business knowledge are a plus.
  • Several years of relevant experience with F&A processes and systems, including long-term planning, budgeting, GL, AP/AR, financial close and reporting.
  • Experience leading or supporting system upgrades, enhancements, and finance transformation projects.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience as a senior business systems analyst or project manager, overseeing projects from requirements to deployment and support.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial data management and systems configurations for F&A.
  • Proficient in reporting tools and Excel; knowledge of SQL, Power BI or Tableau a plus.
  • Able to bridge F&A and IT to synthesize and prioritize business needs.
  • Proven ability to drive continuous process improvements and lead change.
  • Skilled at helping stakeholders make timely, informed decisions.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication skills (both verbal and written).
