Advanced Manufacturing Engineer – Electric Powertrains (SG 31)

 

Requisition Summary

This position reports to the Advanced Manufacturing Department within PACCAR Engine Company. This position is responsible for the activities related to manufacturing preparation for building Battery-Electric Powertrains.

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

The job duties will include the following.  Note that travel is occasionally required.

  • Develop manufacturing strategy for global battery pack manufacturing
  • Lead activities associated with identifying PACCAR factory requirements for battery pack assembly, including process design, operator training, capital budget, equipment design and validation, packaging design, facility changes, and infrastructure development
  • Provide manufacturability input in electric powertrain design, development, and launch processes, including assembly process, manufacturing standards, safety standards, logistics, software development, and vehicle system validation
  • Support technical, concept, and design reviews with the appropriate manufacturing slide templates
  • Communicate pertinent information with PACCAR impacted factories. Coordinate plant input and feedback.
  • Provide build support during pilot build activities at suppliers and battery pack factories
  • Track and report critical metrics (readiness, defects, documentation, communication)
  • Document issues and escalate critical concerns to resolve engineering issues
  • Review drawings for manufacturing using the Windchill environment
  • Design, validate, and implement logistics solutions for new products

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will have five or more years of engineering experience, preferably with one to three years of manufacturing/industrial engineering or design for manufacturability experience. A highly motivated self-starter with proven track record leading successful projects. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required.

  • BS in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Equivalent)
  • Extensive Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
  • Extensive Experience with Project Management Tools and Processes
  • At Least Five Years of Truck or Automotive Engineering Experience
  • At Least Seven Years of Engineering Experience

Desired Qualifications

  • MS in Engineering or MBA
