Position: Expanded Function Dental Assistant(EFDA)


Full/Part Time: Full Time

Job Summary:

The Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA)will assist in all aspects of dental care provided by Care Alliance Dental Practice. Completes approved EFDA procedures, and assist with dental care during all dental clinics including chairside assisting the dentist.


Task Responsibilities:

Include but are not limited to:

  • Provide oral hygiene instructions and/or explanations      of prescribed treatment to patients.
  • Effectively interview the      patient, evaluate medical/dental history, chief complaint, and record      dental findings and treatment.
  • Prepares      treatment room for patients by following prescribed procedures and      protocols
  • Completes the placement      of amalgam, composite restorations, stainless steel crowns, space      maintainers, etc. in an efficient and timely manner
  • Provides      materials by selecting, mixing and placing materials in preparation for      the doctor
  • Provides      diagnostic information by taking and developing radiographic images; using      intra-oral cameras; pouring model casts
  • Maintains      patient appearance and ability to masticate by fabricating temporary      restorations
  • Clean and prepare operatory, tray set-ups, clean and      sterilize instruments.
  • Verify that all supplies are readily available to allow      a smooth flowing clinic.
  • General clinic maintenance, including cleaning and restocking. 
  • Efficient scheduling of appointments and referrals for      specialty treatment
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.


Requirements

 Required: 

  • High School Diploma, GED and completion of an Expanded Function Dental  Assistant program
  • Radiology Certified
  • BLS  Certification
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with computer systems for dental records and digital x-ray, Experience using EPIC is a plus
  • Excellent verbal skills and ability to correctly transcribe dental terminology.
