About the role

ARServices is actively seeking a Vice President of Business Development (BD), with a demonstrated record of success, to focus on the development and expansion of its business profile within the Department of Defense and Federal Civilian Marketplace. The Vice President's responsibilities include: meeting business goals, developing account plans, identifying and qualifying business opportunities; developing and executing capture plans; managing new customer relations; and technical, operational and customer intimacy leadership. The Vice President of Business Development will lead senior customer interaction activities within ARServices’ core customer base, i.e., Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Energy (DOE), Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), and the Navy. The Vice President of Business Development must also lead the pursuit of new business opportunities within other DOD activities and civilian agencies, and will play a leading role in cultivating and sustaining partnerships with other companies. This person will be responsible for maintaining, updating, and regularly briefing to the CEO the pipeline of opportunities being considered by the company, including developing and presenting gate review briefings consistent with the Shipley business development model. The ideal candidate will materially contribute to the overall success of the company and work collaboratively with the other Business & Operating Unit leadership, at both strategic and tactical levels. The Vice President of Business Development will also supervise and provide guidance to ARServices’ Proposal Manager, a seasoned professional. The position is located in Alexandria, VA, and comes with a competitive salary and performance-based bonus.

Business Growth Qualifications

  • Identify, qualify, and win new, long-term business opportunities that capitalize on ARServices’ core competencies, capabilities, past performances, and position the company for large program opportunities
  • Apply innovative practices to meet customer business needs and to shape solutions specific to customer requirements
  • Manage customer relationships and communicate opportunities and issues to the proposal and business operations team on a continual basis; collaborate, coordinate, and communicate effectively with essential back-office and critical operational functions/resources
  • Coordinate business development activities with business partners/teammates to maximize the ability to deliver targeted solutions that meet customer needs
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and win new business
  • Demonstrated performance in development and capture of Prime programs with contract value greater than $25M
  • Must have the ability to engage effectively in teaming partner and client facing activities and proposal development for complex selling solutions
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office applications (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, and Project)

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Science, Computer or Marketing with minimum 10 years’ experience in business development, Masters’ Degree preferred
  • Demonstrated presentation skills both written and oral, including ability to effectively communicate to senior military and public/private-sector executives
  • Ability to apply entrepreneurial “out of box” approaches to expand ARServices’ footprint in the DOD and Civilian market space
  • Demonstrated track record of successful engagements with senior level customers with at least one of ARServices’ valued customers such as, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Energy (DOE), Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), and Military Services
  • Previous experience in proposing and delivering integrated, functional solutions to Government customers
  • The ability to create business development and capture strategies to ensure effective product/service placement, relative to market opportunity, working closely with the program management and technical personnel
  • Demonstrated success/performance working for and with small businesses, with a keen understanding of the small business culture
  • Demonstrated ability to critically assess opportunities and prioritize time accordingly
  • Must have an active Secret clearance OR ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Top Secret clearance and familiarity/experience in marketing to the Intelligence Community
