Responsibilities:
- Develop in-house capability for Electromagnetic Transient models and establish a process for organizing, reviewing, and maintaining model updates and documentation.
- Implement model validation practices to ensure the accuracy of Electromagnetic Transient models.
- Perform complex transient studies for interconnecting resources and devices, such as inverter-based resources, HVDC, or FACTS devices.
- Utilize applicable EMT study models to assess potential solutions for system performance requirements.
- Collaborate with Transmission and Distribution Planning, providing support in EMT study areas.
- Ensure compliance with NERC reliability standards by conducting applicable EMT studies and monitoring proposed/new standards.
- Support EMT training for planning engineers.
- Engage with technical consultants, universities, and utilities to understand control concepts of resources.
- Research and collaborate with industry experts to implement best EMT modeling and study practices.
- Develop methodology to model and interpret analysis using PSCAD or other EMT simulation tools.
- Demonstrate clear understanding of control, design, and performance of IBR, HVDC, or FACTS devices under different scenarios.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Transmission Planning or Transmission Protection Engineering.
- Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
- Thorough understanding of power system analysis principles.
- Understanding of practical electrical characteristics of power system equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel for meetings, conferences, and trainings.
- Desire to handle challenging projects, quick learning ability, and attention to detail.
Desired:
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or PE License.
- Minimum two years of experience with EMT software tools for analysis.
- Experience in the conversion of PSS/E data to transient models in an EMT platform.

- Salary Range: $79,800 - $131,700.
