The Senior Engineer, Asset Technology will develop, design, demonstrate, and install downstream improvement projects for the production of nutritional products.  Provide engineering and technical leadership while working closely with other functions (Improve Plant and Large Capital Project teams) in order to achieve project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify process improvements and/or new technologies and lead the engineering design, installation, commissioning, and testing at pilot scale.  Work with Improve Plant (IP) team to evaluate existing processes and develop innovative ways for improvement.
  • Process design, basic and detail engineering including process simulations, design calculations, process optimization, sizing and selecting of equipment. 
  • Lead technology transfer of new and existing processes to Manufacturing or third-party sites.
  • Collaborate with IP and Operations team to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement solutions to improve yield, quality, and throughput.
  • Develop project plans, estimate project installation costs and operating cost impacts, schedule project milestones and resources.  Communicate and document deviations and changes in scope. 
  • Effective communication across all levels of the organization, but primarily within operations groups.
  • Travel domestically and internationally for manufacturing or quality support, technical consultation, and training.  At times, travel can be extensive, or be on assignment for an extended duration.

You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or related engineering field.
  • 8 years of related industry experience in a GMP biotech/pharmaceutical/food environment preferred.
  • Proficiency of process modelling and statistics software is preferred. 
  • Prior Lean Six Sigma certification is preferred; otherwise, certification must be obtained upon employment through dsm-firmenich’s Lean Six Sigma training program.
  • Familiar with drying and separations equipment such as fluidized bed dryers, spray dryers, centrifugal separators, filtrations, homogenizers, and evaporators. 
  • Wide-ranging experience with continuous improvement platforms such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Advanced Analytics is preferred. 
  • Project Management experience preferred.
  • Familiar with use of API/ASME/NFPA engineering standards.
