About the role

The Corporate Development team is charting a new partnership path for Chase, bringing together the assets of the firm to create “One Chase” opportunities to support our customers. Corporate Development is responsible for all strategic partnerships at Chase across our major consumer businesses, including the Consumer Bank, Business Bank, Card Services, Home Lending, Travel, Digital and Auto. Across these businesses, the team is responsible for digital banking, digital retail, payments partnerships with FinTech’s and large tech companies, merchant value and embedded benefits partnerships to strengthen the card portfolio, co-brand and private label partnerships, and our payments network partnerships. . Corporate Development is at the heart of many of the most important strategic and business decisions at Chase.

As a Corporate Development Strategy Associate  within the  Auto and Home Lending  team, you will have the opportunity to work with other highly motivated team members in cross-functional teams.  You will collaborate across lines of business (LOB) where you utilize your strategic thinking skills to build and leverage relationships. This role offers high visibility across the Auto finance business.

Job responsibilities 

  • Work cross-functionally within Chase and JPMC and with external partners to identify, negotiate, and execute key partnerships that drive business results and support the business strategy
  • Develop partnership strategy with the lines of business, including identifying key elements of the strategy, completing analysis, and making recommendation
  • Develop and help deliver specific partner proposals with the lines of business, including overall vision, partnership economics, and product integration
  • Work in conjunction with finance, legal and other functional partners to develop financial business case, deal constructs and other key terms associated with partnership
  • Monitor external environment for important competitive developments and potential partnership opportunities and communicate more broadly to key line of business partners as necessary
  • Ensure all deals and business development is executed in accordance with policies, controls, key functional partners, and Corporate Development procedures 

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Minimum 1+ years financial services/banking industry experience 
  • BS degree or equivalent experience required
  • Experience supporting the formulation of business strategy, including structuring problems, completing analysis, and making recommendations
  • Project management experience in a cross-functional environment
  • Ability to work independently and quickly adapt to new or ambiguous situations without significant assistance
  • Strong analytical skills including understanding of common financial statements and understanding of financial models
  • Execution and organizational skills – Well-developed organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Able to quickly and effectively respond to rapidly changing business needs and urgent requests. Able to explore innovative ways to perform tasks in an efficient and timely manner. Must be proactive, detail and results-oriented, and willing to drive change. Strong time management and follow-up skills; flexibility, ability to prioritize requests and multi-task.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate to senior internal and external stakeholders

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills 

  • Partnership, strategic alliance, or deal execution experience
  • Interpersonal skills – Speaks and acts with the appropriate level of confidence and empowerment; demonstrates professional assertion. Ability to partner with Business Managers and actively listens to instructions, feedback and viewpoints from others while proactively seeking feedback. Able to collaborate with individuals across the business to achieve goals, while proactively looking for opportunities to continue building strong internal relationships

This role is not a remote position. Candidates must be able to physically work in our New York, NY or Wilmington, DE offices 3 days a week and remotely from home 2 days per week. The specific hybrid schedule will be determined by direct management.
