Job Description

Your Career

We are searching for a Principal Release Engineer, IT with experience in software release management processes. You will oversee the entire release process, from planning and scheduling to executing the release. You must have experience managing IT releases in a complex, fast-paced, heterogeneous IT environment with many SaaS and On-prem systems. There will be multiple releases every month. Good written, verbal communication skills are necessary as you will work closely with IT Leaders, IT Program managers, Product managers, and Dev/Tech leads. You will ensure all approvals are obtained to release the software in a timely manner to QA, UAT, and Production environments. You will also manage Dev, QA, and UAT environment refreshes. 

Your Impact

  • Work with IT project,  product, and development teams to create and maintain release schedules
  • Manage version control and release documentation
  • Perform risk assessments and contingency planning 
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to communicate release plans and progress
  • Define and drive the execution of the CI/CD process for the IT application
  • Manage SDLC environment refresh and schedule working with project managers and IT leads

Qualifications

Your Experience

  • 14+ years of proven experience as a Release Engineer or in DevOps
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable communicating directly with software developers, QA Engineers, IT Support 
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline and build tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket, etc. 
  • Proficiency in scripting to automate repetitive tasks
  • Experience with version control systems
  • Experience working in an Agile, scrum environment
  • Experience with major platforms like SFDC, SAP, Workday, Micro Services, and Snaplogic iPaaS 
  • Located in SF Bay Area, need to be in office 3 days a week.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field or equivalent military experience required
  • Master’s degree is preferred

The IT Enterprise Architecture team is uniquely positioned to transform new production introductions, business processes, and system landscapes across the PANW enterprise for the next growth phase. 

The IT Enterprise Architecture Organization consists of four teams performing critical functions. 

  • New Product Introductions (NPI) 
  • Business Architecture
  • Information System Architecture
  • IT QA

The NPI team does product introductions for all PANW product lines. This function is closely aligned with our product line (speedboats) from ideation to GA. They work closely with all stakeholders (IT, Marketing, sales ops, GCS, Finance, and Legal) to launch PANW products.

The Business Architecture team is responsible for designing, reengineering, and automating business processes across the enterprise.
