Monday through Friday working 4, 10-hr shifts (total of 70 hours) with 10 hours Administrative time per pay period to support CRNA operations in Lakeland/Burlington, Kenosha, and Mount Pleasant. 

Provides work direction, guidance, and feedback to advanced practice clinicians to ensure high quality and efficient patient care. Assembles necessary supplies and equipment, and administers intravenous, spinal, and other anesthetics prior to surgical or other medical procedures. Monitors patient’s reactions and vital signs during and after anesthesia. Submits postoperative report on patient’s condition, and maintains records of anesthetics administered. Requires at least 50% of time dedicated to clinical practice and a minimum of 10% (8 hours per pay period) dedicated to Lead duties, with flexibility to alter based on practice needs.

Acts as a mentor and expert resource to advanced practice clinicians (APCs), which includes training, orienting, onboarding, providing clinical work direction, and ensuring effective, efficient workflow and staffing coverage. Participates in recruitment, interviewing and hiring of employees, staff development, resolution of employee concerns, and employee morale. Participates in or conducts annual merit-based evaluation process. Provides clinical and professional performance feedback to each APC for the practice. Obtains additional feedback regarding clinical and professional performance from other colleagues, including but not limited to, physicians, APCs, RNs, MAs, other support staff.

Develops and maintains orientation plans, work improvement plans if necessary, clinical competencies, various communication tools, practice protocols, and scope of practice documents. Develops and monitors a quality improvement plan with physicians. Collaborates with professional and ancillary staff to ensure the provision of high quality and efficient patient care.

Acts as liaison for communication between ancillary departments and actively participates in meetings/updates with Coding and Billing, Compliance, Pharmacy, other specialties as related to APC practice. Assists in program development by participation in practice goal setting, new program/service development/deployment, resource allocation, and community outreach in collaboration with physicians and operational leaders. Coordinates education for APCs related to specialty practice changes and updates. Supports excellence in patient care through sharing timely, up-to-date, evidence based research.

Provides clinical guidance to advanced practice clinicians regarding the continued care of patients. Follows through with staff to ensure patient receives recommended care. Responsible for narcotic accounting and distribution.

Provides anesthesia services, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care to patients which includes: the induction of anesthesia; the maintenance of anesthesia at the required levels; the support of life functions during the administration of anesthesia, including induction and intubations; the recording of all pertinent events during the induction of, maintenance of and emergence from anesthesia; the recognition and the taking of appropriate corrective action (including requesting consultation when necessary) for abnormal patient responses to anesthesia or to any adjunctive medication or other form of therapy; and the professional observation and resuscitative care (including requesting consultation when necessary) until the patient has regained control of his/her vital functions.

Performs pre-anesthesia functions including: determining that an appropriate pre-anesthetic examination has been made; insuring that relevant tests have been completed and a thorough assessment of the patient has been performed; reviewing the patient's condition immediately prior to the induction of an anesthesia; checking the readiness, availability, cleanliness, sterility when required and working conditions of all the equipment used in the administration of anesthetic agents prior to administering anesthesia.
