About the role

The Senior Vice President, System Operations (SVP, System Operations) provides executive leadership for a broad port-folio of clinical and non-clinical support functions across the health system, including Pharmacy, Radiology, Laboratory, Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy, Environmental Services, Food Services, Security, Atlantic Mobile, and Durable Medical Equipment (DME).
This executive is responsible for top decile quality, operational, and financial performance through systemwide standardization, process improvement, and disciplined management. The SVP, System Operations ensures that every operational function supports exceptional patient care, team member engagement, and financial stewardship across hospitals, ambulatory sites, and post-acute programs.
The SVP, System Operations should be a ‘system thinker’ and integrator who aligns diverse operational units toward common goals. He/she must be passionate about process improvement and innovation, with the skill to connect strategic vision to operational discipline. This executive must have a track record of building credibility and trust with physicians, executives and front-line team members alike. A results orientation is a must-have, along with the ability to understand how to achieve balance between quality, patient experience, team member engagement and financial performance. Developing leaders from front-line team members through executive ranks will be a key success factor for the SVP, System Operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
• Develop and execute an operations plan for areas of responsibility that aligns with Atlantic Health’s strategic plan.
• Lead the design and implementation of standardized operating models, policies, and metrics to ensure quality, consistency, and efficiency, across all facilities.
• Partner with clinical, administrative, and physician leaders to advance operational excellence, patient experience, and safety.
• Identify and develop partnerships with third parties that mesh with Atlantic Health’s mission, strategy and culture to increase quality, speed, effectiveness, and cost.
Operational Performance
• Lead optimization of each function in partnership with facility, medical group and service line leadership to support high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for service, quality, safety, and productivity.
• Drive top decile performance in each operational domain, using benchmarking, analytics, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Oversee systemwide operational budgets, capital planning, and resource optimization for areas of responsibility.
• Ensure effective oversight of facilities management, construction, and real estate development projects to support growth, modernization, and sustainability initiatives.
Standardization and Integration
• Develop and implement systemwide standards for service delivery, staffing, technology platforms, supply chain utilization, and performance management.
• Ensure integration of operations across acute, ambulatory, and post-acute settings to enable seamless patient flow and care coordination.
• Lead the adoption of Lean and High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles to eliminate waste, minimize defects, reduce variation, and promote consistency of operations.
Talent and Culture
• Recruit and develop a high-performing leadership team across all operational domains.
• Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, innovation, and exceeding customer expectations.
• Partner with HR to elevate performance and talent review processes for each function.
• Engage team members through inclusive approaches to continuous improvement.
Collaboration and Partnerships
• Work closely with system executives, physician enterprise leadership, and nursing to align operations with clinical goals and quality initiatives.
•Develop service level agreements (SLAs) for each function with all key customers, e.g. hospitals and medical group.
•Partner with supply chain, IT, and finance teams to support enterprise-wide standardization and performance improvement.
•Serve as executive sponsor for key system initiatives, including emergency preparedness.

Salary range: $442,396 - $827,307 base only; excludes all incentives. 

 Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in business administration, health administration, or related field required.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive operational leadership experience in complex, multi-hospital health systems; executive experience leading acute care facilities is desirable.
• Demonstrated success leading large-scale performance improvement and standardization initiatives.
• Proven ability to manage capital programs and facility operations.
