What you will be doing
- Architect, implement, and support highly available, secure, and scalable database platforms across Government Cloud and hybrid environments.
- Lead and execute database migrations, including on‑premises to cloud transformations, SQL Server to PostgreSQL conversions, and workload modernization.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain relational and non‑relational database technologies while ensuring compliance with strict security and governance requirements.
- Design and manage HA/DR solutions—including replication, clustering, failover, and backup/recovery—to protect mission‑critical workloads.
- Drive automation-first practices by building database automation and CI/CD workflows using Ansible and GitHub Actions.
- Partner with development, cloud, and DevOps teams to provide architectural guidance, troubleshoot performance issues, and support new and existing application initiatives.
- Mentor database team members, influence best practices, and evaluate emerging technologies to continuously improve database operations.
What you will likely bring
- Deep expertise with both SQL Server and PostgreSQL in enterprise and mission‑critical environments.
- Demonstrated experience designing and supporting HA/DR architectures across cloud and hybrid deployments.
- Proven success migrating databases from on‑premises to cloud platforms.
- Hands-on experience converting SQL Server workloads to PostgreSQL.
- Strong knowledge of Azure cloud database services, security models, and cloud-native architectures.
- Advanced experience with automation, including Ansible, IaC concepts, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
- Strong understanding of database security, governance, compliance, and performance tuning.
- 10+ years of enterprise database administration experience; 5+ years supporting cloud, hybrid, or regulated environments preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
What could set you apart
- Experience with Terraform or additional IaC frameworks.
- Scripting experience for automation and operational optimization.
- Exposure to NoSQL and modern data platform technologies.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog.
- GovCloud or regulated-industry background; US Person or Green Card holder (GovCloud requirement).
