Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
This Construction Technology Manager role supports field supervisors, heavy equipment operators, construction technology specialists, and project management teams by ensuring timely digital data delivery and clear communication. With a proactive and curious mindset, this position drives continuous improvement across service offerings and regions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Digital Model & Data Management
- Creates As-built, progress quantity topo, and other field data for the project team and/or client representatives.
- Works with the project team to ensure that design revisions are completed on time to ensure field crews are working with the current design data.
- Performs design work for project teams
- Performs QA/QC Checks on team design files
Field Technology & Support
- Performs, coordinates, and communicates setup of new project startup data, including field control/calibration, design files, 3D models, etc., as required by the project schedule
- Work closely with equipment operators and field personnel to optimize workflows and maximize the use of machine control technology
- Assists project teams with project progress and final quantity calculations.
- Coordinates, communicates, and schedules layout, calibration, topo, and other field duties amongst the construction technology team.
- Performs remote sensing acquisition tasks, including aerial drone survey, underwater sonar, and other applications, and data processing to ensure timely data delivery to requesting parties.
- Maintains hardware inventory to ensure calibrations, firmware, and software licensing are current and kept up to date.
- Works with field staff to troubleshoot, coordinate, and repair grade control technology hardware and software.
- Facilitate, coordinate, and schedule day-to-day activities of the survey team.
Training & Technology Implementation
- Lead training programs for field teams on best practices for machine control, rovers, and total stations.
- Provide ongoing support and education to ensure high adoption rates and minimize downtime caused by technology-related issues.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency gains through technology.
- Research and recommend new tools, software, and hardware to enhance field operations and digital workflows
- Stay up to date on the latest advancements in machine control, survey technologies, and positioning systems
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Two years’ minimum related experience and/or training.
- MSHA, OSHA 10, and Part 107 drone certifications or ability to obtain.
- Proficient with aerial drone photogrammetry software and hardware, both acquisition and processing.
- Proficient with Trimble business center software and Trimble Civil Construction Suite
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, AutoCAD Civil3D software suite, and Propellor Drone Platform
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Must clearly communicate directions and information to all levels of management, employees, vendors, and business associates. Speaks effectively before groups as well as individuals.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Preferred working knowledge of dredging software and hardware, including survey acquisition, mechanical dredging, and cutter suction dredging applications.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- Leads safety efforts for the team.
- Provides leadership and supervision of Construction Technology Specialist(s) and 3D Modeling Specialist.
- Oversee, mentor, and develop, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure high efficiency and effectiveness.
- Hire, train, develop, and review all direct reports. Takes disciplinary action as necessary, on a timely basis, and in accordance with company policy.
OTHER:
- The position requires a Valid Driver's License and the ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Travel required within service regions - up to 25%- could include overnight stays.
- Requires 8 to 10-hour workdays Monday through Friday and occasional weekends as needed.
