Job Description
Small Molecule Analytical Research and Development (SMARD) is seeking a highly motivated Scientist-Microbiologist to join the growing Microbiology Center of Excellence (COE). Based at our Company's Headquarters in Rahway NJ. This position is responsible for supporting our Company's Portfolio which includes small molecule, biologics and vaccines. Responsibilities vary day to day from routine product (Microbial enumeration, tests for specified microorganisms, sterility) testing, supporting special studies where needed in support of manufacturing. While working within a fast-paced, integrated, multidisciplinary team environment, the candidate is expected to have a strong working knowledge of theories, practices and procedures in discipline and will build their own team effectiveness skills.
Minimum required education:
BS in Microbiology or related Biological Sciences and at least 2-3+ years industry experience.
Required experience and skills:
General understanding of GMP microbiology testing principles including compendial requirements.
Desire and willingness to learn, contribute as part of a team with cross-functional interactions.
Planning, executing and evaluating GMP microbiological analyses one or more of the following: (USP/EP Microbial enumeration, analysis of water, microorganism identification, endotoxin, and bioburden determinations and subsequent product testing).
Supporting smaller laboratory projects and material management of media, reagents, and test kits as applicable Supporting equipment qualification, maintenance, and calibration.
Documentation and management of analytical results according to applicable GMP requirements.
Strong aseptic skills.
Ability to troubleshoot and critical thinking.
Ability to think logically and be proactive under pressure.
Strength in delivering results on firm deadlines in support of our pipeline.
Availability for occasional weekend or evening work as needed
