Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

The Associate Counsel of Business & Legal Affairs position is an attorney position. It will support the Sr. Counsel – Business & Legal Affairs of Telemundo Network and other attorneys in the department.


Job Duties:

  • Under the supervision of a senior attorney, draft, review, negotiate, and interpret an extensive range of agreements, including, but not limited to, sponsorship, collaboration, event organization, licensing, influencers, talent, technology, services, and procurement-related agreements.
  • Serve as a dedicated legal support for internal client groups as assign and liaising with other internal business units, primarily on entertainment and media-related matters, privacy and cyber security, artificial intelligence, publicity and privacy rights, business and non-profit organizations partnerships, public relations matters, and occasionally liaising with news, sports, scripted, unscripted, compliance, and other internal departments.
  • Manage legal issues for internal client groups, including but not limited to drafting rules and guidelines for events and facilities services, conducting necessary presentations and trainings, performing risk assessments on different legal matters.
  • Create deal summaries, maintain and administer day-to-day contractual and operational matters, including preparation letters and memoranda to internal and external clients and presentations to senior-level management, and help maintain the infrastructure, records, and internal systems of the Business & Legal Affairs department in compliance with internal policies.
  • Provide general legal advice and support to the business.
  • Updating form contracts to reflect current practices and policies.
  • Generally, support the other attorneys in the Business & Legal Affairs department.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: 

  • JD degree and US bar membership in good standing. 
  • 2+ years of relevant legal experience in a law firm setting or a business/legal affairs position in the entertainment or media industry strongly preferred.
  • Strong project management skills and exposure to legal operations and/or processes efficiencies. 
  • Superior interpersonal communication, drafting, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills. Fully bilingual and able to conduct business and analyze legal matters in Spanish and English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and contract management tools.
