Motility GI Registered Nurse-Medicine

Coordinates patient care activity on the phone and in the office and clinic, providing necessary support to the physician within established guidelines. Patient care activities within scope of nursing practice will include but are not limited to patient assessment, medication management, collaboration with healthcare providers, patient education, procedural management, and a variety of medically related tasks; and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provides compassionate and high-quality nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of patients on the unit.
• Initiates and implements patient care plan.                                                                                    

• Maintains Motility Room to include organizing and stocking of room.
• Oversees the care of electronic/mechanical motility equipment to include inspection and calibration, demonstrates expertise on the use and maintenance of equipment.
  
  
• Performs all motility and GI physiology procedures under medical supervision to include:
  1. esophageal motility
  2. anorectal motility
  3. breath hydrogen tests
  4. 24 hr. pH studies
  5. SmartPill Studies
  6. Capsule Studies
     
     
• Records, prints and catalogs all relevant data from procedures.

• Makes initial interpretation of data for verification by attending physician.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's Degree, Associate's Degree, or diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution
• Current Maryland licensure or eligibility to obtain Maryland licensure
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Two to three years clinical experience
• CPR certification is required
• Strong technical skills to operate highly specialized electronic equipment
• Strong working knowledge with computers, computer equipment, data collection platforms (such as Excel)
