Job Description
Your primary focus in this role is to provide customers with excellent technical customer service and ensure complete satisfaction. Responsibilities include installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, testing, analyzing, while maintaining, repairing, and training of Syntegon packaging equipment and associated products. This position has a direct and significant impact on maintaining our customer base as well as growing new business for Syntegon Technology Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- You will participate in internal, external, and vendor training to maintain and further develop level of technical expertise and proficiency.
- You will also provide assembly, installation, startup, and commissioning support at Syntegon and customer sites, including modernization upgrades and provide troubleshooting and preventive maintenance for customer sites.
- This Field Service Engineer will train customers on proper operation, machinery updates/modifications, with basic adjustment and safety rules of packaging machinery.
- Assist with final machine checkout and FAT.
- Remember that you represent the company to customers and colleagues in a professional manner acting as an ambassador for Syntegon ensuring good working relationships with the customer and Syntegon colleagues and that Syntegon’s reputation is sustained.
- Execute all work in accordance with Syntegon and customer safety regulations and requirements and provide detailed reporting.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Must possess an Associate's degree or 2-year technical college diploma in Mechatronics, Automation, or related engineering field.
- Must have at least 3 years of work experience in the packaging industry or comparable automated industrial equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Having Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Beckhoff experience is a plus.
- Experience with Cognex, Halcon, or other vision systems is highly desirable.
- If you speak or write in an additional language it is a bonus.
- Your excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to partner with other functions and foster teamwork will be beneficial.
- You will excel with strong problem-solving skills and ability to work Independently with flexibility on changing priorities and deadlines.
- Your strong mechanical aptitude, with mathematical skills and detail-oriented work style will provide you with the best skillset for the role.
Additional physical and travel requirements:
- Travel up to 80% domestically and internationally which requires nearby proximity (within 50 miles) to a major metropolitan airport and may require residence in a specific geographic area to better serve a specific customer base. Due to business needs, approval will be required, post-hire if an associate wishes to relocate.
- Work in tight quarters; on top of and underneath equipment. Stand, stoop, kneel and bend continuously while working on equipment (66% of the time).
- Lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
Submit to safety, background and drug/alcohol testing as required by customers and wear personal protective equipment as necessary.
