Relational Leadership Program Operations Manager

About the role

Department Overview

The RELATE Lab (Relationships in Equity, Leadership, And Team Effectiveness) is embedded within the Department of Family Medicine (DFM) and working to create a more relational and equitable health system for healthcare professionals, patients, and communities. The RELATE Lab works towards this mission through four program areas (1) relational leadership development programming for healthcare professionals; (2) relational community organizing with patients; (3) research and program evaluation; and (4) multimedia storytelling.

The RELATE Lab’s high-visibility relational leadership programming for healthcare professionals works to advance the Relational Leadership (RL) model, evaluating the impact of relational dynamics on teams, and developing disruptive relational innovations. Drawing heavily upon multiple disciplines (including organizational development, social psychology, and community organizing), RL emphasizes the “who” in addition to the “what” and “how” of change and encourages leaders and teams to optimize the full breadth of human interactions as they manage relationships to achieve authentic connection, common vision, and interdependent action to create change.

Current RL Programs include: Relational Leadership Institute (RLI), a three-month longitudinal leadership course delivering foundational RL mindsets and skills to an interprofessional, cross-generational cohort, and is currently held twice a year in Portland, Oregon; Relational Leadership in Practice course, a relational peer-mentoring community program which currently is held once a year; Relational Leadership Residency Programs, where medical residents receive relational leadership training and coaching; and RL workshops, which function as 1-3 session engagements to offer small portions of RL programming to local healthcare teams on an ad hoc basis.

The RELATE Lab is seeking a RL Programs Operational Manager who will work closely with the Relational Leadership Programs Co-Directors, and RL Programs Team to (1) manage delivery of RL programming; (2) serve as project manager for the RL Programs Team; and (3) serve as a trainer and facilitator.

Research shows that women-identified individuals and people of color are less likely to apply for positions, unless they believe they meet all of the qualifications in a job description. At RELATE Lab, we are most interested in finding the best candidate for the position, and that may be someone who comes from a background where they have experienced systemic and/or structural barriers to seeking work. If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to think broadly about your relevant experience for the role.
