Carlin - Environmental Engineer Specialist, Air Program

Position Description: 

Nevada Gold Mines is seeking a passionate and driven Environmental professional to join our dynamic Environmental team at Carlin. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and will play a key role in managing and enhancing air quality programs to ensure the highest standards of legal and environmental compliance are consistently met.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with site personnel to ensure seamless compliance with Title V, Class II, and MOPTC permits.
• Continuously improve and maintain robust sustainability systems that guarantee air quality compliance throughout the organization.
• Lead inspections to ensure operations meet permit requirements, including guiding regulatory inspectors during periodic site visits.
• Oversee and manage source testing activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Prepare detailed semi-annual and annual compliance reports, contributing to the organization’s environmental transparency and accountability.
• Manage contractor performance and ensure high-quality execution of environmental activities.
• Partner with operating divisions to help them achieve environmental and operational objectives.
• Deliver impactful training sessions for employees, contractors, and other stakeholders, fostering a culture of compliance.
• Provide after-hours, on-call support for environmental incidents as needed.
• Navigate diverse terrains, including uneven, sloped, rocky, wet, or icy ground, and safely lift up to 40+ pounds as part of routine tasks.
• Take on additional responsibilities as required to ensure environmental excellence.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field, or1-3 years of direct experience in mining and air program management.
• Hands-on experience with air permit compliance and a strong understanding of regulatory agency interactions.
• Ideally, 1-3 years of experience in the mining industry.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage large volumes of complex data from multiple sources.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively present, write, and interact with diverse stakeholders.
• Proven track record in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
• Advanced proficiency with Excel.
• Familiarity with compliance systems such as ISO 14001 is a plus.
